The last Japanese soldier who refused to surrender even after the war.

Did you know that there is a Japanese soldier who hides in the mountains of the Philippines for almost 30 years after the world war 2 ended?Yes! His name is Hiroo Onoda.He was born on march 19,1922 in kamekawa village in Japan.Becaused of his guerilla warfare training,Onoda was sent into the small Island of Lubang Philippines to lead the Japanese soldier there to fight for the American and Filipino soldiers.

In his book, No Surrender he share his experienced during his time in hiding in the mountains of lubang.He has 3 companions Private Yuichi Akatsu,Corporal Shoichi Shimada and Private first class Kinschi Kozuka but all of them are died during Onoda's time.He survived by eating root crops and banana.In his book he mentioned that they are have difficulties in food but not in water. But the soldier who was admired by the world has a very bad secret which he did not mention in his book... In order to survive and find some foods he killed many innocent residents in the the village to loot their animals and crops. According to some of the lubang residents they even set the house on fire of some of the resident

Japanese government send some leaflets to tell and encourage Onoda that the war is over and he need to come out.But Onoda never believed, he thinks it just a propaganda.On October 20 1974 one japanese man name Norio Suzuki who was an adventurer bravely search Onoda and convince him to surrender and explain that the war is over.Onoda refused and told Norio Suzuki that he will only surrender if his Commanding officer will come. Norio came back to Japan and show some proof of Onoda's was still alive.And on March 9 1974 ,Major Yoshimi Taniguchi finally meet Onada and convinced him to surrender.

March 11 1974,Onoda personally surrender to President Ferdinand Marcos together with his rifle and samurai.And that's the end of the Onoda's 30 years hiding in the jungle of Lubang Island Philippines.Onoda returned to his country as a hero.He died on January 16 2014 at the age of 91 in Tokyo Japan.
