Hello. World...

ACTIVATION...

STARTING UP...

"This one looks better than yesterday's..."

SYSTEM IS READY!

Static...

A hand tapped on your head. "Can you see now? Do you recognize me?"

Static...

"Can you tell me your name?" The man in white looked familiar if a bit distant.

"It's ..." You managed to bring out the name from your memory registers.

"Good. Memory is working." The man in white scribbled a few lines on the report he was holding. "Transfer was a success."

"What. happened. to. me?" It was hard to think. Your head got hotter with every word.

"Raise your arm." The man in white commanded, with a smile on his face. "You should be able to understand if you see it."

The static got noisier as you lift your arm higher. The arm you saw wasn't that of flesh. It was completely mechanical. The static clouded your vision worse as you saw that. You felt your head burning too.

"What's the last thing you remember?" The man's smile vanished for the first time since you woke up. "Y- You're heating up!"

"...!" SYSTEM IS OVERLOADING.

"Ah, it seems it's another failure..." The man seemed to talk but it was too hot to focus. "Its memory registers got burned again."

Static... Static... Static...

"Cloned brains can't handle these mechanical bodies yet." The man in white sighed as he took the chip out of the machine's head.

"It's totally burned down." He held your 'brain chip' with his fingertips in disgust before tossing it out. He scribbled on his paper before speaking louder. "Bring out the next one!"

Author Notes:

This was a short story I wrote as soon as the idea got into my head. It's a thought process that changed after writing the first line. I was thinking of a person who got revived at first but ended up with Human cloning.

The digital brains and bodies can't handle the cloning process, but I'm sure after a dozen or so attempts, the scientists will find a way. Probably.
