There was a Zen monastery where many devotees used to come to the Guru for education. Of all the fans, the newest fan was the most industrious and did a lot of work. If his guru wanted something, he
would reach out to him first. He would immediately complete any task given to him by the guru. He would go to bed at the end of it all and get up first and start his daily work. The Guru noticed this and one day asked him, "Where were you before you came here?"
The disciple said, "I have been taught by Shaling Q."
"Oh, Shaling Q! I heard about him. Once when he was walking on the bridge, his foot slipped and fell into the river. Isn't it?" Guru asked.
"Yes, Gurudev."
"Did you know that he gained self-awareness at that very moment?"
"I didn't know that. But he wrote a poem about his perception."
"Do you remember that poem?"
"Yes Gurudev, I remember."
"Yes Gurudev, I remember."
"Then listen to me."
"I found a pearl.
For a long time dust and dirt covered his brightness.
Now that dust has flown. There is no more dirt.
Brightness is born.
Mountains and rivers are illuminated by its light. "
As soon as the recitation of his poem was over, the Guru laughed out loud.
The disciple became confused, "What's so funny about the poem? Why did Gurudev laugh?" But after much thought he could not find any answer. That night his sleep flew away. As soon as he woke up the next morning, he was looking for a guru.
"Gurudev! When I recited the poem yesterday, why did you smile?"
The Guru said, "You are worse than a clown."
"Seki?"
"Yes, the Jokers make others laugh, but you get scared when someone else laughs," he said, laughing out loud again.
This smile of the Guru gave the disciple enlightenment.
Sadguru's explanation:
Sadguru: There is a deep connection between Jane and laughter.
Most Zenmasters are the kind who laughed out loud. And just Zen Ken, anyone who has reached a kind of blissful level inside themselves, they wait for no reason to laugh. Whether it's good news or bad, they can laugh.
In my youth, when self-awareness developed in me, I looked around and thought, "Why are these people, who are capable of living every moment of life in great bliss, messing things up like this?" My face would be teary.
But soon whenever I saw ignorance among the people around me, I realized that smiling was more pleasurable than crying. There is no point in constantly shedding tears.
In this world, ignorance is far more widespread than poverty or disease. When you see ignorance, what better chance of laughter than that? If you have the intellect to match ignorance and bliss, then there really is no problem.
Once I was driving in the highlands of America. It was raining then. Isha's volunteers were going with me in another car.
In the car behind me, there were three American women with an Isha volunteer. Usually I drive hard, and they try to drive at my speed.
I warned them, "Don't try to keep up with my pace."
They said, "No, this road is familiar to us," and they kept the same pace.
The hill road took a bend in one place. I kept the same speed on that bend but the car behind could not handle the bend. He pushed hard against a tree standing on
one side. The tree was tilted slightly by the impact of the car and the car got stuck in the way the animal climbed the tree, causing the car to hang half on the tree and half on the road. If he missed it a little, he would fall into a valley four hundred feet deep.
Through the rear view mirror, I witnessed every moment from the time the car hit the tree. I pushed my car back a little and came out to see their condition.
The women inside were all screaming and shouting. The car was dangerously hanging on the edge; And we slowly got everyone out of the car one by one.
They could all have died in such an accident. But they survived. Even after surviving this extreme danger, they could not escape the fear and terror created by it. American women began to cry louder.
But as soon as Isha's wife came out, she started laughing out loud. The moment I got there, I also started laughing indomitably.
American women became more angry and shouted, "How can you act so irresponsibly, when we are suffering in this way?"
I smiled and told them, "If you all died, I wouldn't laugh like that. I would just wait a while and then laugh."
At any point in life or in any situation, how you handle what is coming in front of you depends on how ignorant you are. Where are you from Where are you going You don't know anything, but imagine something like yourself and stick to it. You're going to be here for a very short time, so why bother with it for your own stupidity?
