The preparation of sitting up is one of the primary tricks to teach and shapes the basis for other dog tricks.
To set up a dog to sit up, set up specific treats as a prize, and set your dog on his haunches in a corner, with the objective that he can't fall either in opposite or sideways and has no space to lose balance.
Shield him from pitching forward by holding one hand under his chin while the other hand holding the treat over his nose and keep repeating unquestionably and deliberately state, "sit up." Don't make him sit up unnecessarily long at any one time, anyway reiterate the activity a significant part of the time and prize him much of the time with ample of treats.
During his first experience, he will require great assistance from your hand to shield him from pitching forward as he manages to balance his muscles and grasps what you need, he will depend less and less upon your hand to keep him in position and you can consistently convey him less assistance until you just need to keep one hand in position a couple of drags from his neck or chin, to be set up to thwart him pitching forward; later on, you can pull back this hand totally and hold the treat above his head.
With consistent practice, he will sit up well after you set him up; by then he should be set up against the wall, and after he has been generally instructed at this and can keep his position adequately, practice him to sit against his legs, cushions or various things that require him less and less assistance until he finally sorts it out some way to spare his adjustment and sits up without any problem.
During all of the those, the words "sit up" have been introduced for his mind by progressive emphasis, and now comes the last exercise to educate him to sit up when he hears the words and the chances are, if he has been tirelessly exhausted, it will be significant to call him out in the room, show him a treat, hold it up above the floor, say "sit up" and he will do in that capacity when he should be rewarded with the treat while still in position.
