A number of people fall victim to 419 scams every day. These scam emails are becoming more and more sophisticated, yet they still rely on the victim replying to them, in order to make the scam work. One of the most common mistakes that people make when receiving these emails, is replying or even better, responding directly to the scammer, who then has all that they need to steal your identity.
There was a time I received email from a person calling himself Dr. Goodluck Ebele Chere. He told me his father was late, and he wants to contact him. I thought it was true because I read from newspaper of how some people had actually contacted their relatives after years of grief. He asked me for my information that would be used to open a private bank account for his inheritance. I just gave him my name, address, email and phone number.
And he said he will send me a cashiers check of $6,000 which I should keep in my account until he contacts me to confirm the signal and the password which will used to release the funds in my account to receive the $6,000 into my nominated Bank Account.
I was naive not to do my research I believed to be true that it was real. But I saw that it was 419 fraudsters because I have read more than 1 article online of a successful testimony people have been receiving their money from 419 fraudsters but most of them were duped which is one of the reason why I decided to write my experience on how I fall victim of 419 fraudsters.
