Good Conduct

Good conduct is the conduct that a person considers good, appropriate and rewarding to himself. The good conduct relates to the virtues of man as a human being. It is also related to our self-respect, which is something that no one can take away from us, since it coming from inside, from the consciousness of each one of us.

It is not a simple thing like not stealing or not killing and the like, but involves the whole man and forms part of his ethic. Conduct is behaviour and all our behaviour is involved in the good conduct.

In addition, we should also take into account that man cannot be taken as individual, because he lives in a social context and therefore what seems good to an individual must also conform to ethical standards in society.

The good conduct is able to bring welfare and health, peace and contentment. It puts everyone on a plane of equality and therefore this is something that all men should practice, regardless of their colour or social strata they belong.

Good conduct is a phrase commonly used among employers who wish to provide a general framework of the kind of behaviour they expect from their employees. It is a standard set by the employer who, therefore, has the power to alter it as they see fit. In this sense, good conduct is a subjective term.

More often than not, good conduct is associated with just being a good employee. An employee who is punctual, efficient, dedicated and can get along well with colleagues is said to have good conduct. Good conduct also extends beyond the workplace and into more personal realms such as community and family. In fact, good conduct in the workplace is often expected to translate into better citizenship at home and vice versa.

Some employers may choose to draw up and apply their own guidelines governing the conduct of their employees. Others may ask that their employees adhere to the codes of conduct imposed by government institutions or industry bodies that are applicable in their industry or region.

We uphold good conducts and integrity when we conduct our daily business in the open market, deal with clients and business partners. We commit to the morality of conducting honest, just and professional business transactions. We have a zero tolerance on fraud and abuse of all kinds.

Funmi is the product of good conduct. She who didn't know she was conceived till she was a year old. The tale of her miraculous birth (her mother was locked up for 4 years but still got to give birth) and life are so astounding; they would not be believed by all but those that were there to see it. The way her parents and their in laws put up with all the hardship is even more amazing.

The people that were involved in her life wouldn't have done so if they weren't just decent human beings.In the end, she is happy because her parents are happy, she has more than enough food to eat and never misses going through an entire book every day. She didn't choose to be born, but she did choose who to live with and as such, she is a product of their decisions, good conduct and God's grace.
