I will like every reader of this article to give their overview in the comment session of this article. This is a reality that happens to somebody am close to, and I don’t know the way to advise him. Bamidele happens to be is close to sixty years of age. The incident happened when he was twenty-nine years of age. It’s compulsory for every young graduate under thirty years of age, to serve their fathers land.
This is known as the national youth service s corp (NYSC), this will take one year to complete the session of training, orientation, and services to humanity. He has been a brilliant type even to date. He graduated with first-class honour in the premier university of Nigeria, that is the University of Ibadan. Few months after graduation he was enlisted for the national youth service corp and was posted to Kaduna a state in the Northern part of Nigeria. To start with the corp members resumes a three weeks camping program where they are trained in martial l act and some military activities. And made an oath of loyalty, obedience throughout the service year.
Note: the NYSC anthems
Youth obey the clarion call
Let us lift our nation high
Under the sun or in the rain
With dedication and selflessness
Nigeria is ours, Nigeria we serve
After his three weeks in camp, he was posted to his place of primary assignment (PPA). Which happen to be a federal government science college. He and other corp members posted to the school resumed on their given date for resumption. They were warmly welcomed by the principal and staff of the college. They were fixed into the corpers log and began work immediately.
Bamidele handles senior secondary classes (SS 1-3) in their mathematics, and physics.
Been hardworking personnel he organizes tutorial classes for those in SS 3 who are writing West Africa examination council (WAEC) and external students preparing to write Joint Admission Matriculation Board exam (JAMB) and Monotechnics, Polytechnics and Colleges of Educational Matriculation Exam (MPCEME).
Sooner than later Bamidele began to admire one of the girls preparing for admission into the university whose name is Bunmi. She is a young girl of 21years of age. Month after month Bamidele completes his one-year service. And was giving an award, as the best serving corp member of his set in the whole state. In the school he was teaching, the principal recommended for him to be retained as a teacher in the college which the federal government granted without hesitation. His love for Bunmi keeps growing, but she refuses him, be that she wants to go to university and study nursing.
A week before the jamb exam he offers to help Bunmi and her friends with an extra night class, she accepted it with some of her friends. They started on Monday night using one of the classes in the school, but couldn’t work as much one there is no light and the other mosquito is much. The next day they agreed to use his living room and its work for them, they were able to cover a lot of work. The exam day came, and they all did so well scoring high grades. He was still much around, one he pretended to be sick and sent for Bunmi to help him with some of his house chores. She with joy and gladness rush down hearing that he is sick. She got him medicine, cook and wash all his dirty clothes till was already getting late before she finishes.
The unexpected happens when was about living he pretends to pretend his sickness became severe, she rushes to him on his bed. The next thing was a bitter story for her, she is been raped by him, she wept bitterly. He apologized and promised it will never repeat itself. Four weeks later the school is about to vacate on holiday. He was contemplating on going spend his holiday in Lagos with his family. When he had a knock on his door, he went to open it and found Bunmi crying at the door. He was so surprised to see her because she has refused to see him after every incident on that night.
She came to announce to him that she is four weeks, pregnant and her, parents have vowed not to send her to the university with pregnancy. He smiled and assure her he loves her will be there for her that she should wipe her tears. She was a bit relieved and went home with an assurance that he offers to take care of her and her baby. As early as possible Bamidele ran off the village where he impregnated a girl back to Lagos and start-up a new life. Bunmi suffers a lot to take care of herself and her daughter, she forfeited her education and learn to nurse as an auxiliary nurse. She was named Oluwaremilekun (meaning God console my cry), Remilekun grew up without knowing who her father was. Her stepfather trained her up and make sure he gave her the very best just to make her mother happy. She graduated as an account and already working with one of the top accounting firms in Nigeria as a branch manager.
Remilekun got married recently to the son of a well-known businessman. The wedding was the talk of the town. Recently Mr Bamidele meets one of Bunmi’s friends back then who narrated what her friends went through and that the girl is Remilekun him the pregnancy he abandoned. Bunmi friend gave him the address to the house Remilekun bought for her mother in Abuja. He couldn’t recognise Bunmi again because she is looking so good. He introduced himself and prostrated pleading guilty, for running away now he is back, and he wants to see his daughter.
The question now is does Bamidele deserves to claim Remilekun as his daughter?
If you are Bunmi what will you do, should Remilekun take Bamidele as his father, who has abandoned her for 28 years of her life???
Our biological parents will always be our biological parents no matter what
