It almost stings to post this one in RetroGaming, but 1999 was over 20 years ago. 😱 This is a memory card for the Sega Dreamcast, known as a Visual Memory Unit (VMU). The screen is used by some games to display relevant information in a private way (hits, accuracy, maps, etc). You can view it in the controller itself. It also has the ability to run mini-games. You can load up one game per VMU. You could also plug two of them into each other and swap saves back-and-forth. I ordered a part off Amazon today, should get it tomorrow - it will let me transfer save data between my VMUs and an SD card. I'm really looking forward to having technically unlimited save blocks, but also the ability to revisit some absolute banger VMU dungeon crawler games lol. These things were abysmally small in storage - you could usually only hold data from like 3-4 different games on each one, and even less if you have a mini game installed on it. I'll have to post more about this once I've got the part and get far enough into Time Stalkers that I can buy the mini game from the in-game shop. #Retrogaming
