Seems like, web development has became many people's interest nowadays, key to their inspiration of being a programmer!

It is because mostly everyone finds 'Web Development' as an easy thing to start with. Well, they did took the right decision!

Because of many amazing resources on the internet, it's been quite easy to learn to code on your own. But you will need a guideline to start your journey. Don't you?

How about let's begin with an introduction! Maybe you don't need that, but I think it's good to start everything from the beginning.

What is Web Development?

Web Development is the way of creating a web in the internet. It is a way how you can build your own website and connect with the people around the world.

To be exact, Web Development is a broad thing to explain in a small chunk of time. Well, who has a train to catch?! Let's take some time!

Anyways, now a question arises, "Where to start?"

There are (kind of) two segments in web development.

One, Front-End Development

Two, Back-End Development

In this article, I'm going to talk about only the first one, 'Front-End Development'. I'll have a part two of this post, where I will talk about the second one, 'Back-End Development'.

Front-End Web Development

To be honest, as of my experience, it's the easy part! :)

Front-End Development is that part of web development, where the oulook of the site (UI) is created. A front-end developer builds that part which a user see's.

A front-end developer is like a bridge between a web designer and a back-end developer. So they have a job to maintain the connection perfectly. So they're important!

Now, if I told you that you are only 7 steps away from being a front-end developer, would you believe that!

Doesn't matter you believe it or not, this is the truth! Follow only 7 steps and you're a developer.

First step: Learn HTML

At first you have to learn a language 'HTML'. It's quite easier than anything else on web development. You'll need maybe one or two weeks to learn this.

HTML refers to 'Hyper Text Markup Language'. It creates the structure of a website. An important thing to remember is that HTML is not a programming language; it's a markup language.

Now why is that an important thing to remember? Well, you'll know one day! :)

However, HTML has many versions. HTML5 is the latest one (as of current time). And you'll need to learn that!

Second step: Learn CSS

CSS refers to 'Cascading Style Sheet'. It's also easy as like I said about HTML but CSS is much more broader than HTML. So it'll take much more time.

By the abbreviation of CSS you may already know that it is something related to style. Yes indeed, it is! It controls the styles, colors and theme of a website.

The lastest version is CSS3 and you'll have to learn that.

Third step: Mastering HTML and CSS

Learning is not enough if you don't practice! Now when you have completed HTML and CSS, you need practice both of them.

You will need to improve your designing thought. Afterall that's what makes a front-end developer different from others!

For practicing, here what you can do. If you search Google, you'll find many PSD template (Website Template in image format). Download them, and try to create them with only HTML and CSS.

Create as much site as you can. That's how you can improve your skill also designing idea!

Fourth step: Learn JavaScript

This one maybe a little bit of harder for some people! And it also requires patience.

JavaScript is a programming language which gives an interactivity to a website. It makes your site more user friendly and more accessible.

You'll need to have a good expertise in JavaScript. Because beside web dev, you'll need this in many other places as well.

So be a master of it!

Fifth step: Learn Bootstrap

Bootstrap is a framework of CSS. Learning Bootstrap makes it easier to style your website.

It speeds up website building process 10 times faster!

Bootstrap is also easy to learn and it takes very less amount of time to be an expert of it! There are many versions available but learning the latest one is enough!

Sixth step: Learn jQuery

'jQuery' is a 'JavaScript library'. With this you can do many things with less amount of code!

I previously said about JavaScript that it provides interactivity to a website. But sometimes it takes lots of lines of code to do simple task, like animating stuff in a site.

With jQuery, your code becomes shorter and saves you a lot of time!

Seventh and last step: Build up your Portfolio

You already know it, but I want to say it, 'Practice makes a man perfect!' :)

You have to do a lot of practice! And throughout the practice, you'll have to create a portfolio of yours!

If you go to a job interview, how are you going to prove yourself?! You'll need something, some proof of your work!

So that's why you have to build at least 10 to 15 website by yourself to showcase your effort!

Show all your efforts in your Portfolio that will stand out as a result of your dedication!!

I'll have a Part II of this post, so if you want to read that, show some response in the comment!

Stay healthy everyone! :)
