Farmer Children: The Stolen Childhood

I'm thinking about few questions. For example is the condition of children working in agriculture given sufficient attention? Are there any labor rules that govern their involvement in the field at such a tender age? Are there any rules that parents must follow in order to participate in the farm? And what has the school system done to help these children lead regular lives despite the fact that the people who force them to labor were their parents?

According to Psychologists, childhood is the most essential period of development. The psychological, physiological, mental and emotional development and growth are at their most fragile stages during this time. In the last decade, at least nine children have died while working on farms, with many more injured. Children who worked in pesticide-treated fields are more likely to suffer from neurological and reproductive health issues, as well as cancer. Most of the children have never been taught about pesticide's danger, safety precautions, or what to do if they are exposed. Some kids have no ideas what pesticides were.

To ensure that a child's growth is not hampered, he must be provided with all of his basic needs, including enough rest and sleep, entertainment and play. But the question is wether these demands can be addressed when children of farmers are already exposed to the harsh realities of life at a young age. They are robbed of their childhood days, which should have been spent having fun and enjoying themselves.

Work that is improper for a kid's age, impairs children's education, or os likely to endanger their health safety, or morals is described as child labor. Not all work done by children is deemed child labor. Some activities may aid in the development of critical life skills and contribute to the survival and food security of children.

However, much of the agricultural labour the children do is inappropriate for their age. It is frequently dangerous and can obstruct children's schooling as well as their entire physical and social development. Furthermore, were children required to work long hours they have fewer possibilities to attend school and develop their skills, which will most certainly hinder their capacity to find acceptable work in the future.

Farming children were rarely rewarded directly for their efforts. The sum paid to the family included their wages. This structure made the family's head of household responsible for all of the family's laborers, while only allowing the padrone to deal with a small number of subcontractors. As a result of this arrangement, a kid became a vital part of the household's producing ability.

In general, the purpose of this article is to discover the predicament of minors working in agriculture, especially those who work in family farms. Agriculture continues to be the largest employer of children, accounting for more than 70% of all child labor globally.

Solutions

Whereas the family farm tradition can easily be safeguarded through a particular exemption, our child labor laws should be amended to ensure that childrend working kn agriculture are subject to the same regulations and protections as children working in other businesses in our state.

Working in the family farm is a valuable tradition that should be perpuated, but putting young children in dangerous situations should no longer be a habit. Child labor legislation violators should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Increased penalty for child labor infractions should be considered, with a portion of the fine going toward child worker rehabilitation.

Every industry should have the same child labor laws. "Where there is famine, there is child labor", let us join forces to protect children from preventable injuries and deaths, and to ensure they have a safe, healthy, and prosperous future.
