The most popular instant messaging App WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow the users to mute a video before sharing.

The feature dubbed as Mute Videos is currently rolling out to WhatsApp Beta users. Those using the 2.21.3.13 Beta version of WhatsApp will receive the Mute Videos feature that lets them mute videos before sharing with their contacts. The Mute Videos option will get located on the video-editing screen that appears before sharing any content. The feature appears to be in the form of a volume icon below the seek-bar. Tapping on the volume icon will likely mute the video being sent.

WhatsApp has been under scrutiny from its users since the controversial Privacy Policy update. To which the company already issued several clarifications and communicated that the users’ misunderstood the notification. The majority of the features first go for Beta testing before making it to the main App. The purpose of Beta testing is to identify and remove any bugs before a stable update. Its also expected to test the Video Mute feature for iPhone and iOS users.

When the company tweaked its privacy policy earlier this year, users started migrating to other Apps such as Signal and Telegram. WhatsApp tries to make the user experience better by introducing new upgrades and features now and then. Apart from the Video Mute feature, the Facebook-owned Application is planning to bring Voice and Video Call features to the WhatsApp web version. The company is also working on multi-device support, speculated to land on the stable version soon.
