From Ethereum to Epic: Gods Unchained Forges a Path to Mainstream Gaming Glory
The world of blockchain gaming just reached a significant milestone with the official launch of Gods Unchained on the Epic Games Store. As a free-to-play tactical card game that offers true ownership of its cards as NFTs, Gods Unchained has taken a bold step towards mainstream recognition. With over 230 million PC users on the Epic Games Store, the game is now accessible to a massive audience of traditional gamers and TCG enthusiasts.
In this article, we delve into the implications of this move and the potential it holds for the future of blockchain games.
On June 21st, Gods Unchained announced it’s mainstream launch on the Epic Games Store.
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play tactical card game that offers players true ownership of their cards, as each is an NFT, able to be sold or used as desired.
The blockchain-based game originally launched on the Ethereum network back in 2018 and is still going strong to this day; which is a feat by itself when compared to most blockchain/NFT games.

“Gods Unchained’s release on Epic Games Store is a crucial milestone as we aim to place ourselves in popular culture alongside other digital Trading Card Games (TCG) such as Hearthstone, Magic: The Gathering, Yu Gi Oh, Legends Of Runeterra, and more. Following the launch, our game will become easily accessible and discoverable for over 230 million PC users worldwide that comprise the Epic Game Store player base today.
We believe it is hard to overestimate the significance of Gods Unchained’s launch on Epic Games Store, one of the largest PC gaming platforms in the world, and are extremely excited to present our game to the massive audience of traditional PC gamers and TCG enthusiasts. It is a natural continuation of our journey and makes good on our promise to our community to continue to bring Gods Unchained to a new and diverse player base.”

Gods Unchained took to Twitter to let everyone know about the exciting Epic Games Store news.
Based off the tweet, it seems that Gods Unchained has more announcements planned for the future.
This could be a reference to the long-awaited full launch of their mobile app, but this is just pure speculation from me.
“Ever since the game industry moved to consolidated platforms,” Paez said, “players feel a lot more comfortable about the game they’re jumping into. Either it reaches a quality bar or it doesn’t contain malware — things like that. So that feeling of familiarity is super important, especially when we’re talking about blockchain games.”

If you head to the Epic Games Store now, you will see that Gods Unchained is currently Trending.
This is a sign that gamers will be interested in blockchain games, as long as the gameplay is solid and they can easily access it.
Most gamers aren’t even aware of the existence of blockchain games, so it will take an approach of putting the games right in front of their faces; and this means launching in traditional gaming storefronts, like Steam and Epic Games Store.
Unfortunately, Steam has outright banned the listing of any blockchain/NFT games on their storefront.
Therefore, Epic Games Store is the obvious choice for blockchain/NFT games to launch their games; especially since both Grit and Blankos Block Party launched on the Epic Games Store earlier this year.
Personally, I have been slacking a lot lately when it comes to playing Gods Unchained.
However, after reading up on this Epic Games Store news and writing this article, I now feel the motivation to get back into the swing of things.
At the very least, I need to be completing my daily games in order to be claiming those daily $GODS rewards.
Maybe we will cross paths on the Gods Unchained battlefield one day!
