Many people dont know the actual difference between Curd and Yogurt. They thinks that both are same but actually that's not. So i am explaining the main difference between them.

Curd vs Yogurt

We often mix up these two. There is a misconception that they are same. Actually NO. So what's the difference?

The first thing we need to know is, the making process of Curd and Yogurt is totally different.

1. Curd is made from hot milk adding some sour indigrents like lemon juice, vinegar or sometimes curd itself. Then, the milk gets solid qfter fertilization.

Curd.

2. Yogurt is made by hot milk adding direct bacteria. Usually Lactobacillus bacteria is used.

Yogurt

We usually eat curd. Those who maintains their health eat yogurt because it is more beneficial than curd.

There are more differences!

1. Curd is more liquid and releases water. Yougurt does not release water

2. Curd can be made at home easily. For yogurt it is impossible. Yogurt can be produced only in food factories or chemical lab.

3. Curd is more sour than yogurt.

4. Curd can be both sweet or sour but yogurt is only sour.

I hope you can now recognize which one is curd and which one is yogurt from next time.

I make curd, yoghurt, kefir, feta, and soft chevre at home. From goats milk. Thank you for reminding me to start some yoghurt. I have plenty of cheese.

Also I made caramels from the milk. I also made "brown cheese" which is a Norwegian sweet "cheese" made by boiling the water out of whey and adding cream or milk and boiling the water out of that.

One can buy bacteria for yoghurt making on Amazon, or just use some plain yorghurt already made. The trick is to keep the milk at a low temperature for several days.
