Importance and Sources of Vitamin A .

Good afternoon everyone. Hope you all will be enjoying a safe and healthy life. This is Zahidg.Am also fine by the blessings of Allah Almighty.

Vitamin A helps in forming and maintain healthy teeth, skeletal and soft tissue ,mucous membranes and skin. It is also known as Retinol because it produces pigment in retina of eye. Vitamin A promotes good eyesight,espacially in low light. It also has a role in healthy pregnancy and breastfeeding .

Vitamin A has several important functions in our body. They include :helping your body's natural defense against the illness and infection.The immune system work properly Vitamin A boosts immune system .

Vitamin A deficiency can result from inadequate intake ,fat malabsorption or liver disorders. Deficiency impairs immunity hematopoises and cause rashes and typical ocular effects eg. Xeropthalmia,night blindness. Vitamin A deficiency may exacerbate low iron status, which can lead to anaemia. Other symptoms of Vitamin A deficiency include dry skin, bumpy skin, hair loss and increased sevirety and mortality risk of diarrhea and measles.

Sources of Vitamin A

1-Cod liver oil

2-Eggs

3-Fortified breakfast cereal

4-Fortified milk

5-Orange and yellow vegetables and fruits

6-Broccoli,spinach and other dark green leafy vegetables

7-carrots

Vitamin A is very crucial for our body. Use fruits and vegetables more in your diet.
