Padma Bridge: the dream comes true.

Padma multi-diverse Bridge. This was the dream of Bangladeshi people. Today is the day of its starting. Bangladeshi people are proud to witness these memorable moments. I am also proud to be the witness as a Bangladeshi. And in this article I will discuss the journey of building Padma Bridge. So Let's start.

Today's morning, at 10 am our prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this Bridge. 25 june will be written in bold letters in the history of Bangladesh. The longest bridge of Bangladesh is now open for all.

Let me tell you something about Padma bridge. Padma bridge is the largest bridge of our country. It is 6.15 kilometres long. It has been our dream for a long time.

Padma bridge includes or creates a direct link for 21 districts with the capital of Bangladesh. Which is a tremendous development for us. What will happen after opening this bridge? This will make people's lives easy on both sides of the river. It mainly creates a connection for the southern region of Bangladesh with the capital city.

Padma. You need to know about Padma otherwise you will not understand the importance of this bridge. Padma is the most dangerous river in our country and even in the subcontinent. And a bridge over this river is unthinkable actually. Researchers said there is only one river which can be comparable with this mighty padma and that is Amazon river.

The building of a bridge over this most dangerous river was not easy. We had to wait for a long time. Engineers were disappointed sometimes when they couldn’t find solid soil for the Foundation. Because of the dangerous character of the river this bridge has been made in different techniques. I can't explain all those techniques here for now.

History of Padma bridge. The initiative was first proposed in 1998. But it started its work in 2009. After researching, the World Bank refused the loan. The Bangladesh Government became disappointed. It was shocking for the country. But Bangladesh wasn't quiet. Government declared that we will make it with our own money. Although China offered us a loan, it amounted to almost 75% of the total budget in some conditions. But Bangladesh did not agree with it.

Then Bangladesh started the journey with its own money. Japanese and Chinese engineers and technicians have worked here on this project. Bangladeshi engineers also contributed besides them.

It is a 6.15 kilometres Bridge. It has four lane road transport service. And it has a rail road too. It is called a multi-purpose bridge. Because it will serve so many purposes. As you know it has created a direct link between the 21 southern districts and the capital. It will also serve as the road transaction of this region. There is an initiative to make a road transaction with the asian countries in this region. If this happens then this bridge will be used for that.

One of the famous personalities of Bangladesh named Sheikh Siraj has said that this bridge will create an agricultural revolution in the southern region. He has pointed out that the development of agriculture depends on transportation. A smooth transition and low transportation cost influence agricultural development.

When there wasn’t this bridge. People used to use the ferry and lunch for the Transport. It was so time consuming. Agricultural products were being Rotten in this time. But what will happen now? People need not to wait hours after hours for the ferry to pass the 7 kilometres river. The bridge will help them cut their Transportation time.

Farmers will be influenced by this. They will be inspired to Produce more. Because they could send it to the market easily. Their life will be easy.

Some industries will be built in the bank of the bridge in future. These will change the lifestyle of the people of the southern territory. For industries, Transportation is necessary. And this bridge is the solution to these limitations.

End of the day I can say that THIS bridge will increase the speed of the development process of the country. Specialists are saying that it will increase 1.5 percent of national GDP.
