Cop 27 and climate change…
All of you guys know that COP 27 has been arranged on 6-18 November, 2022. The 27th climate conference was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Leaders from almost 200 countries have joined this programme and according to some news media almost 30000 people from various professional backgrounds are participating in this conference.
Various backgrounds are journalists, NGO officials and from various Climate organisation's officials. This conference is arranged to take appropriate initiatives for preventing climate change and global warming.
Our world is not in a position to keep the climate in control. According to some research world temperature has to be under 1.5 degree celsius. But some researchers are now saying that how the world's most industrialised countries are producing carbon Gas, it is becoming impossible day by day to keep the temperature under 1.5 degree celsius.
Climate change is not a question of the survival of some poor or marginalized countries, it is now a question of survival for the earth. If this global warming continues, one day, every country will be affected by this. I think world leaders are becoming more concerned about climate. Although this is a good sign. But it is not enough. We need to be more concerned about global warming and climate change.
Sea level is Rising because of this climate change and global warming. As sea level is rising the countries which lie in the coastal area are at high risk. They are facing frequent cyclones, Tsunami and other natural disasters.
Top six countries which are in the most climate risk now are Honduras, Myanmar, Haiti, Nicaragua, Philippines and Bangladesh. The sixth one is my country. And that is why I know about the risk. We are facing so many problems and these are intensifying year after year. I will write another article based on the effect of climate change in Bangladesh.
The effect of climate change is not confined to some marginalized countries. In recent times you will have seen that the United States is facing disastrous cyclones frequently. So, we can say that climate change and global warming has started to affect the whole earth already. And it is shocking news for us. Who knows this global warming can be the reason for the destruction of the earth one day.
The main reason behind climate change is the carbon emission rate of the states of the world. In this Modern world almost every country emits more or less carbon. Because every country needs to produce industrial products.
In this regard developed countries are the major producers of carbon. Because they own the majority of the industries of the world. And the poor countries or developing countries are the victims of this climate change. But they emit a little Portion of total carbon.
In 2017 Donald Trump left the Paris Climate Agreement. It was shocking news for the climate researchers and thinkers. But the news of hope was that the US came back to this agreement when Biden came into power in 2021. In recent times Australia is also working for it. France is one of the foremost countries.
The second major reason behind climate change is, I think, deforestation. In many areas of the world forests are being eradicated. This is a shocking thing. As it is happening in my country, it is happening in my neighbors country also, and most importantly it is happening in the Amazon rainforest, the major oxygen provider of the earth. When deforestation occurs it hampers the climate in various ways.
Ocean is becoming a waste damping dustbin day by day. Do you know the sea is one of the major sources which absorbs carbon dioxide?
To reduce the carbon emission and make the climate liveable for the earth, the United Nations Climate Change Conference arranges this conference every year. Which is known as COP. Cop's main objective is how to reduce global warming. It collects funds from developed countries and spends it in research, obviously climate related, and in these climate victims countries.
I believe that one day our world will be freed from this risk of global warming. And for this we need to work together. The whole world needs to be United in this regard. As it is a common threat for the earth so we need to face it unitedly.
