A traditional food and its recipe.

Every country has own culture of food. So we also have a rich culture of food as a Bangladeshi. Our culture is so much rich. We are culturally rich from the ancient rime in this sector. So many types of spices cultivated here. And Indian people used them in their cooking which make their food spicy. Whereas we know that people in the today's civilised countries used to eat boiled food 500 years ago. But Indians used spices from thousands of years ago.

Bengali is so much passionate in food. And here you will see so much diversity in food. One of them is hotchpotch. Today i will tell you about hotchpotch and how to cook this tasty food in this article. So Let's start. 

Hotchpotch is called khichuri in our Bengali Language. It's a traditional recipe of Bengali people. Most of the people of our country loves it a lot. People in Bangladesh eat rice in everyday. Whereas in other Country people eat so many things like bread, soup or pasta and pizza but in our country 95% people can't live without rice. And that is why paddy is the chief crops in our country. 

In a rainy day people would like to eat hotchpotch. And for me it is a must items of my menu in a rainy day. Today is a rainy day. It has rained a lot from the morning. Weather is so cold. A charming weather. People calls it romantic weather. It is definitely a weather for couple. And for the single boys like me It's a day for cooking hotchpotch. I was doing that. As i have came back to my city yesterday. Now i am in my room and my roommate also came today's morning. He told me to cook today. And i started my job. 

Though boys in our culture do not do households chores. And neither do cooking. But i am not like this. I do every household chores and cooking is my passion. I love to cook and to invite people to taste my food. 

When i started cooking i thought it will be better to write an article about hotchpotch and its recipe. People will know about my culture and they will also know how to cook this tasty food. Especially when it is my most favorite food. So i started taking some pictures of the cooking and now after eating that so much tasty own cooked hotchpotch i am writing this one. 

At first you have to take these ingredients. 

Rice, lentils, pepper, garlic, Ginger, oil, clarified butter, slat, turmeric powder and some tasty spices. 

Firstly you need to cut all these pepper and ginger. And make all these spices like pepper, Turmeric powder, salt, garlic, ginger,clarified butter etc ready. 

Secondly you need to wash the rice and lentils after mixing these two. You have wash it so carefully otherwise it can be fall from the pot. And you have to make sure there is no water in the pot of rice. 

Thirdly, put you pot in the oven. Make it hot. Then give some oil on the pot. When the oil become so hot put the spices (pepper, ginger, garlic, Turmeric powder, salt) in the pot together. Now you need to shift these within the pot two minutes.

Then it is time to put all these mixed rice and lentils in the pot and again shift two minutes. After shifting two minutes you have to put water on the pot. The measurement of water you need to put is double of the quantity of mixed rice and lentils. Then you have to keep it on the oven closing the pot. And waits for the hotchpotch. In the meantime you need to check whether salt is appropriate or not. And one thing you need to remember, never ever give so much salt on the cooking. You can recover if you give a little but if you give much you can't eat that food. So if necessary give a little bit salt and when water become dried and hotchpotch been made, switch off the oven. And take it to you dining table. 

You can enjoy this with meat. But as i have not meat in my room now i have enjoyed it with a fried egg. Happy cooking.
