The thing that makes your confidence go down
Friday 29 july 2022
Confidence is very important in everyday life. Well, generally self-confidence is not fixed and can change. And did you know that there are things that can weaken your self-confidence.
Here are some things you should pay attention to, don't let your confidence drop because of the following things.
1. Negative Thinking
Negative thinking is not completely negative. In certain cases, negative thinking helps a person to think realistically as well as preventively. But on the other hand, when you allow your mind to be full of negative things, your self-confidence will decrease instantly. Of course it is very unfortunate if you cancel doing something even though it can bring great opportunities and benefits.
2. Don't focus too much on other people
When you focus on other people for their achievements, you will surely forget that there is yourself that must come first. Don't focus too much on other people's accomplishments because it will make you feel like you are compared to those who are already successful. It will certainly lower your confidence. Remember that everyone is born and raised differently, don't let other people's standards of life apply to you.
3. Too Perfectionist
Being too perfectionist at something can make you lose confidence over time. You will feel that what you are doing is always missing something and want to keep improving it. But it doesn't end, then you start to feel insecure about what you're doing.
4. Don't criticize yourself too often
Self-criticism can have a negative effect on us, the more often you criticize yourself without self-appreciation, the greater the potential for decreasing self-confidence you have. So instead of criticizing yourself, you better add strong motivation to your next goal.
5. Don't overuse social media too often
There are many happy stories of other people that you see on social media, which you may think is very opposite to your current situation. You will feel nothing when you see other people's lives on social media. But know that social media doesn't really show someone's real life. It's better to reduce playing social media when it actually lowers your self-confidence.
6. Not too prominent in doing good
Doing good to others is a noble deed and an honorable attitude, but it is important to place limits on how much you are willing to help others and have the awareness to know when your kindness is being used by others. Always trying to please everyone to the point of sacrificing yourself can make you insecure even to simply refuse other people's uncomfortable requests or express your needs.
7. Find a good friend
Not only factors from your mind but also external factors such as the environment can also have a big influence on self-confidence. Being surrounded by people who constantly discourage you and make you feel like you're not good enough can make you lose your confidence. Good friends will make you grow. But if you're not growing, you have to be smarter about choosing better friendships. Self-introspection is important, even when it comes to building self-confidence.
With self-introspection, we try to judge ourselves about what is already good and what still needs to be improved.
If you yourself rarely or never even take the time to introspect yourself, this could be the reason why your self-confidence is getting weaker.
So, the things above can actually make your self-confidence weaken, especially if you don't realize it right away.
