There has been an outcry on Twitter concerning "Freedom of Speech" since Elon Must became the owner of Twitter. In several of his prior tweets, Musk has called for free expression; nevertheless, the basis of free speech is unclear.

Scope of the Freedom Of Speech

People are wondering about the limits of free expression, which has sparked a conversation based on mutual understanding and maturity.

● Blamphasy is not considered part of free speech by radicals, and any limitation against bigotry is considered anti-free speech by moderates.

● Political parties support the prohibition of deception, yet when their actions are considered, they all label each other's side as disinformation.

● Similarly, there was a debate among people about free speech when it came to themes such as apartheid, gender discrimination, disability bigotry, and so on; nevertheless, many people now consider everything to be free speech.

A Bit Too Far

Some people began tweeting about assassinating Elon Musk, while others offered a payment for his assassination, and these tweets were preserved as free expression. This highlights the issues that arise from recognising posts that promote criminality under the cover of freedom of speech.

To Musk or Not To Musk

Musk tweeted to clarify his position on free speech on April 27, 2022, at 1:03 AM, but instead of clarifying, he just added to the confusion.

Elon Musk argued that "free speech" must follow the law and not go beyond it.

Musk appeared to be attempting to deal with the matter by issuing a statutory basis declaration, which just added fuel to the flames. Following Musk's explanations, the argument became even more heated.

Some individuals started debating what could be considered legal free speech based on the US First Amendment, while some even pointed out that because Twitter is an international platform, controlling people based on law and recognition of one country is impossible.

As a result of such thought, any post might become propaganda, and placing any limit will be referred to as a unilateral ban, which has sparked a lot of debate and is something Musk himself opposes.

CONCLUSION

The definition of freedom of speech is a wide concept whose scope and extent are difficult to define. The owner of an internet platform can freely define its boundaries, just as an authority can set limits on freedom of speech under its control. In terms of Musk, we'll have to observe how he allows and disallows posts. He will become a part of the argument if he does not offer the same kind of acknowledgment he refuses to give to all posts, or try to prevent any objectionable post.
