There are celebrations around the world every 30th day of April. Through the UN, International Jazz Day is celebrated and raises awareness of jazz's benefits as a force for peace, reconciliation, dialogue, and improved collaboration among citizens, as well as an educational tool, among the international community.
Also, in Vietnam, April 30th is their celebration of Ngày Thống nhất, a local term for A Reunification Day, VictoryDay, or Liberation Day. It commemorates the occupation of Saigon by Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces on April 30, 1975, marking the end of the Saigon regime (now Ho Chi Minh City). This ended the Vietnam War and started the process of reconciliation between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North) and the Republic of Vietnam in the South (South).
In Ireland, the Nutrition and Health Foundation organizes Ireland's National Workplace Wellbeing Day, which is sponsored by Food and Drink Industry Ireland, which is part of Ibec. The national initiative, which began in 2015, seeks to improve employee health by encouraging a healthy diet and physical exercise in the workplace.
There are many celebrations every April 30th around the globe. The above few of many experiences and initiatives to celebrate peace, reunification, and well-being are indicators that humans in their natural desire, long for a much better future. Hence, this article is a continuation of my previous articles: A Hope for A Better Tomorrow: Do We Have a Rotten System, and A Hope for A Better Tomorrow: Our System is Rotten!.
The Real Problems of Today: Crime and violence
What should be in the Future: Since the wicked will be gone and "the righteous will possess the world," everyone will feel safe and happy.
Do you have anything to comment about about this problem? This is so rampant, stressing, reduces the quality of life, and eventually horribly threatens human life. Based on the data of the UN at unodc.un.org, crime and violence across all types of incidents are still occurring. Individuals' experiences of crime and abuse in their communities are considered a major public health concern. Violent situations can occur in a variety of ways. They might be personally victimized, experience violence or property crimes in their neighborhood, or learn about crime and aggression from neighbors. How do you feel when in the middle of the night, somebody from your neighborhood screams for help because of domestic violence? That’s horrible. That’s what I felt with my family when randomly some of our neighbor's violence erupted from their very own home. The occurrence of crime and violence in various sectors of various forms will be an unending list.
The Real Problems of Today: War
What should be in the Future: Peace will reign supreme on the planet. No one will have to lament the loss of a loved one killed in a conflict or flee war-torn areas.
World War 1, World War 2, and civil wars around the globe make our earth drunk with the blood of innocent lives and that of the war’s participants. Whatever the reasons either acceptable or not, the war was realized by many as a horrific concept of human history and still is. People realized that this has to end. That was a rotten system and still is. To prevent the horror of war and its effect, the United Nations was established by 193 states in 1945 with four (4) ambitious goals. These four ambitious goals are; maintaining international peace, solves international problems, fosters friendly relations between its members, and promotes human rights, and it harmonizes its members' actions. These are overarching goals but very laudable. This initiative of the UN I would say that it prevents World War 3 from coming soon, and prevents a great war that is going to happen if otherwise. Since then, everybody in the member states of the UN are progressing in formulating peace pacts, agreements, resolutions, as will as its implementations. Are we doing enough to achieve peace? While it is notable that there are many countries maintaining their status as more peaceful, however, there are still many countries whose violence was very evident based on the Global Peace Index (GPI) report produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) which measures the relative position of nations' and regions' peacefulness.
The initiatives to attend or at least maintain global peace are very laudable. However, these initiatives are constantly challenged at the plenary level to each government's programs and implementations. But, how long it will take to attain true global peace, and experience the future that we are all longing for, peace will reign supreme on the planet. No one will have to lament the loss of a loved one killed in a conflict or flee war-torn areas? What do you think?
Just the same as the UN's overarching goals, the strategy of decentralizing everything can reach far in contributing peace on Earth.
I agree that decentralization will change the world for the better. Unfortunately, the world is not a safe place at this time. Critics believe that achieving peace on the planet will fail, calling it a utopia. I believe that together we can reduce the amount of violence to a minimum. At least I want to believe it.
