I am planning to cooked Sinigang na Baboy for our lunch today but after I knew the price of the pork nowadays, I decided to change what to cook 😅 Pork is so pricey now. 1 kilo of pork cost 300 PHP here. It's almost the price of the meat of the beef.
So while I drink my coffee infront of my in-laws house, there's a fish vendor selling and I look for some fish. I choose a medium size milkfish. It cost 120 PHP and I planned to make it Sinigang sa Bayabas.
Before I start to write the procedure of my recipe I will show you the few details of the two main ingredients of my recipe which is Milkfish and Guava.
Milkfish 🐠
Milkfish is the National Fish of the Philippines but there are also a news that it is not official but for us Filipino it is our National Fish. Are you curious why it is called milkfish? It is called milkfish because of their meat. Unlike other fishes, the meat of the milkfish is like the color of the milk. There's also a festival here in the Philippines named Bangus Festival and it ws held in Dagupan, the Bangus Capital of the Philippines. The milkfish is also rich in nutrients like potassium , calcium , magnesium, phosphorus and sodium.
Guava
Guava is a fruit that is commonly seen here in the Philippines. Actually I got my guava ingredients in front of my in laws house because they have a guava tree there. Guava is one of the nutritious fruit here and also that leaves has a lot of benifits to human. Guava fruit has 3 times vitamin C than orange. It is also an anti oxidant and the leaves of guava has anti bacterial effects. When someone has a wound, they will boiled the leaves of the guava and make it as a cleanser.
Both of my main ingredients has a lot of nutrients and Im happy that I served this kind of food to my family instead of cooking processed food.
This is the procedure on how to cook my recipe today.
Ingredients :
Milkfish
Guava
Onion
Water
String beans.
Salt
This recipe is easy to cook.
First, you need to pour a water on a casserole together with the guava , onion and a salt. Wait for it to simmer.
When it is simmering, you can now put the Milkfish and wait until it is cooked. Taste the soup if its good 😄 After that you can now put the string beans and let it cooked. When the string beans is cooked turn off the heat and you can now served it.
It is best served while its hot and partner with fishsauce and chili.
Happy Lunch Time!
