Not all marriages are made in heaven, but they should be. This is why the wedding is usually a religious ceremony. The religious desire of the heart, even when neglected or repressed, longs for the blessing of God on this most solemn of all occassion.
A marriage has two elements:personal and social. On the personal side, the two persons pledge themselves each to the other to live as man and wife. But since the community is vitally affected, the contract is made under prevailing laws and is subjects to them. When these conditions are met the marriage is automatically sealed by God. This means that the marriage which has taken place at a civil ceremony is just as irrevocable as that solemnized in a church.
Here are some of the reasons why do people marry:
Because they have found someone they love.
Because of financial security.
Because they are lonely.
Because they are pressured by their parents.
Because of peers and society.
Because they need emotional support.
Because of strong sexual desire.
Because of culture and tradition.
Because they want to have children.
