Today I will talk about feeding the smallest of the house, the babies ...

Breast milk is the optimal food for children during the first year of life and it is recommended to be exclusive until 6 months of age, as long as the mother has good nutrition, which will result in the quality of the milk.

How many kcal does a baby consume daily?

Well, when a child is exclusively breastfed during these ages, she usually ingests around 500 kcal a day.

For infants who are fed breast milk substitutes, it is important to consider the energy density of the food. At this stage the child has limited gastric capacity, therefore, if the energy concentration is low, he will not be able to ingest the necessary amounts, so it is recommended that liquid foods have an energy density of 0.60 to 0.75 kcal by me, and the solids and semisolids of 2 kcal per gram, in case for some reason they are offered to the child instead of breast milk.

Moms ... Keep in mind that skimmed and semi-skimmed milk have a low energy density, of only about 0.4 kcal / ML, therefore they are not recommended for infants or young children, especially when the only source of food is milk.

Breastfeeding has great benefits, among them are:

  • Helps maintain greater contact and mother-child relationship.

  • The prophylaxis of infections through immunological components of milk.

  • The baby has a lower risk of appearing overfeeding, that is, it will have a normal weight.

  • Easily adopt the nutrients contained in said milk to the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Helps jaws develop faster and teeth form properly.

  • It helps greatly in psychomotor development.

You see friends, the great importance of breastfeeding. Many mothers sometimes refuse to breastfeed their babies for aesthetics, not knowing that they are depriving their children of such vital food at this stage of life.

See you soon ... Greetings to all 😉
