Putting car child seats in Jeepneys, PUVs for Child Safety is being Considered By LTO
Land Transfortation Office (LTO) studies putting car child seats in public utility vehicles (PUVs) and Jeepneys for child's safety while riding.
LTO and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently implemented new car seat law, children below 12 will not be allowed to sit in front of the car. Also, parents should install a child car seat for their 12 years old below children while riding.
The new car seat law has drawn flak from the car owners and moterists. Netizen express dismay and the new law as their children below 12 years old are already big and won't fit in the car if they use the child seat.
As their result, LTO and DOTr have suspender their enforcement as they would conduct an information, education, and communications campaign for three to six months before strictly enforcing the new law.
