The power of "instinct"
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word "instinct'?
Or, do you believe that" instinct" really exists? Well "instinct" is really hard to understand and even harder to define.
Why?
One reason is unlike our eyes, nose and ears, senses that are visible to us, instinct however is invisible! So describing it accurately could be a little tricky. However just because we can't see instinct doesn't necessarily means that it could not exist.
Why do we say that?
Lets take for example the wind, no one will disagree about its existence but none of us ever seen the wind with our naked eye.
So what is our basis on believing that the wind is real?
Though the wind is invisible, its effects are visible, from a leaf floating in the air to the powerful often times destructive power brought about by strong hurricane winds?
So what's the point?
If we can apply the same principle in understanding instinct then we can describe how it works and we will have a concrete foundation of our belief in the existence of "instinct". Most importantly we will appreciate the importance of instinct.
Lets take one particular example to try to understand instinct.
I bet you have countless accounts of mothers unexplainable feeling as though something is going to go wrong and more often than not their feelings are right. There are even times that their feelings or instinct was a life saver.
Lets not also discount the role of instinct in animals,
Wolves for example, the leader of the pack of wolves on instinct will be at the back behind the pack.
Why?
This is to make sure that no weak or sick wolves will left behind, he is always alert to protect the entire group. He is ready to run any direction if there is a threat to his group.
A true leadership character powered by instinct, need not to be in front to lead but staying behind so no one will be left behind!
So based on our evidence at hand is it safe to say that instinct is real and often times a powerful game changer?
What do you think?
