Prambanan temple is a temple that is very famous for its beauty and history, this temple is located in the village of Bokoharjo, Sleman district, Central Java, Indonesia.

This Prambanan temple is a Hindu temple which has a different architectural style from the Borobudur temple which is the largest temple and is one of the wonders of the world.

But that does not mean that this temple is less beautiful than the Borobudur temple, because in my opinion this temple has a very unique history and several legendary stories from this temple have also been attached to the community, namely about the love story between Bandung Bandawasa and Rara Jongrang.

The legend of Prambanan temple

According to legend, it is said that bandung bandawasa loved rara jongrang very much, but it seems that rara jongrang did not like bandung bandawasa, therefore rara jonggrang gave a condition so that he could accept her love, rara jongrang asked him to build a thousand temples in one night, if bandung bandawasa could afford complete it then rara jongrang will receive his love.

Bandung Bandawasa immediately did what rara jongrang said, in the past bandung bandawasa was able to complete 999 temples and only less than 1 more temple which was ultimately thwarted by rara jongrang herself.

Knowing the fraud committed by Rara Jongrang, Bandung Bandawasa finally got angry and turned Rara Jongrang into the last temple statue.

The original history of the establishment of the Prambanan temple

Well, for the original founder of this temple is not Bandung Bandawasa, but here there is a historical dualism regarding the construction of the Prambanan temple, namely between the history of legends and the history of the inscriptions on the temple.

But uniquely, the community prefers existing legends and many believe that Bandung Bandawasa built the Prambanan temple, but actually according to existing inscriptions, the construction of this temple was carried out by the ancient Mataram king in the 9th century AD.

The love story of Roro Jongrang and Bandung Bandawasa is just a fairy tale or a people's story and the original founder of the Prambanan temple was the king of Ancient Mataram.

For the history and legend of the Prambanan temple, it is indeed very unique and interesting for us to know more about the history of the temple.
