A liquefying hope

A heavy lift for the lightweight. A herculean task for the weak. An unfortunate fate for the supposed-to-be blessed. Welcome to the labyrinth of suffering.

The all-consuming dilemma of this modern era is currently at its bandwagon rate, leading through the denouement of one's prime years. This cruising trend is actually the common chorus of the generation, which is almost as deafening as the sound of an exploding future of the youngsters.

Filipinos are known to be industrious and hardworking yes, and that anyone can extend valuable services. But there are indeed surmounting limitations. At what age do citizens can legally work? What are the credentials for one to be granted with an official occupation? Do you think the community strictly monitors the validity of the status of each employment?

Sadly, we can barely answer the latter query with a self-assured, "YES".

The world is not a wish-granting factory. Before, only the strong and capable people were permitted to trade their sweat and blood to keep their families well-provided with basic necessities. This practice is long lost with the wind. Now, we can see small thin, and fragile bodies risking their lives mirroring the work of big muscular, and sturdy workers. It seems that this sort of exigency has dominated the archipelago and almost conquered the entire globe. What's more distressing is that the ratio of unlawful employment of juvenile populaces appear to be escalating every year.

This is very sad story for the youth.

Child labor.

These two words may mean a horror story to those who are under its tyranny. And by the term itself, we can decipher easily who are the victims: children below the age of 15 who are not directly under the sole responsibility of their parents or guardians. As defined by the law, child labor is "any work or economic activity performed by a child that subjects him or her to any form of exploitation, or is harmful to his or her safety, or physical, mental, or psycho-social development."

The Philippines has already taken a vow to reduce by 75 percent all most horrible forms of child labor by 2015, which is anchored on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals of grasping universal education.

We find thousands of Filipino children being deprived from the opportunity to be benefit ted in the prospects of development. It's like they have no other choice but deny the usual flow of a kid's life. Their sweet childhood is converted into premature work rather than confining themselves inside the walls of erudition at the same time enjoying the extent of what the environment can offer.

Tracing the roots of such delinquent, it can be reflected that poverty accelerates to the top. Almost half of the inhabitants of the Philippines agonize from poverty. It seems like all of the worst illegal practices of mankind resort from this kind of social status. Children are forced to ex change their diminutive abilities in order to survive the adversities of life.

The unemployment of their parents also pushes them to take their role. This is quite cruel, right? The parents who should be the ones working hard for their children are the same parents being served by their own children And here comes overpopulation. Why do poor families acquire a habit of having a lot of kids? It makes it even worse when they force them to work, too, when their earnings become insufficient.

The absence of proper education among the subordinate sections of the human race is also a chief reason for them to start laboring. Being ill-fated, they cannot produce enough money for a decent learning for their offspring. So instead of seriding them to school, they would just refer them to places where money could be obtained Since these kids did not and may never gain a diploma, it ensues to the upsurge of illiteracy affecting our economy and manifesting lack of persinality development.

Unaware and untrained people do not ponder deeply about what could be the conse quences if they put their children to uritimely working. They are "unconscious" of what this unlawful practice can impose to their children. Those young individuals who work in a nonstop risky situation frequently encounter severe health problems. Their intellectual wellbeing also takes a beating owing to certain forms of mistreatment or exploitation. These victims commonly face trauma when they reach adulthood and may adversely disturb their maturity.

Children who cannot get a stable work find themselves begging on the streets. In our coun try, we can see in the news that minors were involved in a lot of criminal cases. They feel they need to become thieves and snatchers just to sustain the needs of their families. And in darkest situations, the little girls fall into prostitution.

Some may be dedicated with their occupation because it's their only source of living. How ever, some are bit by bit stepping close to giving up. It should not be their obligation in the first place so why do they have to feel so miserable?

They believe that the youth of the nation is the hope of the country. What will you feel if your icons for hope are actually losing hope themselves? It's time to grow up, people.
