Coronaviruses are a new type of virus. There are many different kinds, and some cause infectious diseases. A newly identified type has caused a recent outbreak of respiratory illness now called COVID-19. The outbreak started in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, in December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020 and recognized it as a pandemic on 11 March 2020.
How Does the Coronavirus Spread?
Coronavirus disease spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.

The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with the most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are dry cough, fever, and tiredness in more severe cases. Also, other common symptoms are shortness/difficulty of breath, pains, aches sore throat and very few people will report diarrhea, nausea or a runny nose.
Preventions Of COVID-19
Till now there’s no specific vaccine or treatments to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19) disease. So, the best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.

But testing for COVID-19 is currently limited to people. So, call your doctor’s office first, if you suspect. Your doctor or nurse can assess your health status and risks over the phone. Then your they can then advise you about how and when to get tested and help guide you to the right type of care.
Don’t go to your doctor’s office in person, as you could be contagious.
