The Night Nurse
Oh she's coming to tuck you in at night passing your bed with her lamp alight old fashioned uniform dressed in white the ghost of the night nurse out tonight
Softly she moves to open the windows translucent in moonbeams as she glows where she appears from nobody knows walks the corridors up and down rows
Those hands are pale as can possibly be trying to smooth down blankets for me warmest smile or words spoken silently her eyes twinkle with mischief merrily
And across the floor she glides on the air I feel an icy touch as she strokes my hair sleepy as I am I dare not rest anywhere for they say patients were lost in her care
Other staff tell of a girl who'd died here a patient slit her throat as she was near all she was trying to do was to be sincere tucking the locks of hair behind the ear
But a craziness that lurked in him snaps a scalpel he'd stolen is kept under wraps used it to carve her as like thunder claps she falls to the floor loudly grave mishaps
Now she tends to a modern dying or sick Still gentle but with her wounds so slick Blood still pouring looking wet and slick A sweet night nurse who died real quick
