What is the concept of good life?
From my point of view, a good life is all about fulfilling our own interests. Once I have something that fills my interest, it's a thing that I call a "good life." When I was in high school, I always wanted to have good grades so that my parents would praise me for having them, but after I graduated from junior high school, I realized that our lives were centered on filling our own interests, and that is how I define my life now. I desire to have a good job, a happy family, and enough salary to cope with daily financial queries, and that is how I define a good life for myself. As I can see right now, to have a good life, I need to fill the empty tasks that I need to achieve as a human.
Aristotle's views on the good life were different from my point of view because he said that to achieve the good life is to achieve happiness, which he said was an activity of the soul in accordance with virtue. In a simple term, he defines having a good life as meaning we are gaining happiness, and to achieve that is to do an activity that has moral excellence or virtue. In the ancient Greeks, the good life was called Eudaimonia, or a flourishing life filled with meaningful endeavors that empowered the human person to be the best version of himself/herself. Since Aristotle was living in ancient Greece and this Eudaimonia was first exist in that, we can tell that he gathered his own thoughts and experiences, and he also based this word to form his own concept of life. Aristotle aims to say that achieving a good life is achieving eternal happiness while doing good deeds or activities, for example if a person lives with his full happiness and that person is doing good activities in his life, we can tell that this person is living a good life.
We, as humans, have different points of view of what life is or how to achieve a happy life or a good life, but I realized that to achieve those things, we must take the right actions in accordance with our virtues. Our life is full of meaning and there is a reason why we are living, and that is to have happiness, because this type of feeling gives our mind and body extreme experiences that other humans also feel once they achieve something in accordance with their happiness. If we want to live morally, we must ask ourselves, "How can I keep myself from doing the right things?" or "How can I achieve happiness while doing the right things?” These two questions served as guides to living a good life, and I made a mental note of them so that I could achieve them as well. Overall, I've learned that in order to prosper in life, a person must achieve according to their will while engaging in morally good activities. Each person has the freedom to choose whether to do bad things that will give us a bad life or good things that will give us a good life, but we must be aware of what will happen if we do such things and how people like us live a good life like Aristotle said, we are more likely to live a good life if we have knowledge about what makes human life good.
