The first article i am writing ..
Travelling in Berat, a UNESCO city site. Holding a 2 thousand year old Castle that is still lived by 120 families inside. The castle has been reconstructed several times , it was built by Illyrians , and reconstructed by Ancient Romans,Byzantines,Ottoman empire , and modern era.the most of the architecture left from the castle and old city is left from the ottoman period ,Stone houses and bridge..
The photo is taken from a defence tower that is inside the second layer of the castle wall. There are 3 layers of castle wall in total. One is protect the civilians inside, second is to protect the soldiers , officers , horses etc , the third layer is to protect emperor building and the ancient water cistern.
The castle even has 2 ruined mosques and several churches. Oldest one is around 1400 years old.
