Once in my life I have been to the point of regrets and dismay because of failures about my decision and making my choices in life. The time when there is a need to choose priorities and what is more relevant.When there is a time that I need to give up an opportunity. In our daily living, we made a decision, from what we eat, drink, what to buy, where to go, what to wear. The major decisions in life like a course to pursue in college, kind of work, getting married, working abroad, to forgive, to love, these are valuable decisions we have to decide.
Decision making in our life is very crucial, from the time we know what is wrong and right, we are obliged of choices and to align our heart and mind with what is allowable and what is prohibited. When the time comes that you have to decide on something, what are the factors that we need to consider?
These are just a few suggestions which I learned from a man who serves as a mentor and a good influence in my life. Here are some questions you need to ask yourself?
Is it good for me?
It is not an implication of being selfish or just considering for your good, but it is for the sake of being happy with what you are going through. That's why you need to know if it is good for you. If you already knew, that it will bring you a productive life that gives you happiness and joy that you choose to be right. By asking this question, it will give us a cue with what want.
Is it good for other people?
Yes, we need to consider the people around us, like our family and our spouse or children. There is a need to consider the safety, benefits, of something that you want to achieve. Like a mother who wants to work abroad, she asks herself if it can bring favorable results when she goes for work on another side of the world and The fact that we love our family and since they are the one who is with us the value of their feelings and emotions also will need to give significance.
Is it the will of God for you?
This question sounds difficult to answer. But it is important to resolve this question. How do we know if our decision is the will of God? My suggestion is that you need to pray first and ask his guidance in which your choice is best. The will of God for me is good and godly.
Considering the will of God would give us a productive life and live with the leading of the one who knows us best. Ask for some people whom you think mature virtually that can give some piece of advice in which way you need to go.
There are a lot of choices in life which is irreversible which will cause it to live in misery that is why decision-making is the most crucial in life.
There was a time when I need to decide on something. Last year the month of October I was approached by our barangay official to teach the Preschool in our place. I accept the opportunity, even if has a very little amount of compensation, what I valued most is that the kids will learn. There is a gap that I feel that place because of political issues. So, I was not comfortable with my work. By the time when the earthquake strikes in our place with magnitude 6.6, as human nature I feel scared to continue from teaching. The room that we occupied by Preschoolers is having a lot of cracks from the roof to the wall of the room.
So I decided to tell it our barangay, but the most disappointing part that they have just rejected my suggestion to find another place. Every day there is an aftershock that we felt, that is why I came back to them and try again to suggest another option, but then they resist to agree. It made me do my choice to give up on teaching to make them realized that they are such people who don't care about the safety of our children. I stopped teaching and they find another one to handle the kids, a few days later the earthquake strikes again with 6.9 magnitudes which cause the room to be fully destroyed, the ceiling was down and the wall was cracked. But one thing I thank that there were no kids get harmed. But the positive side that they have moved to another place after that strike of the earthquake, at least the kids are safe. My heart was broken at that moment since I begin to love the children but it gives me no choice to give for their sake.
The choice of getting married is one of the most major decisions in my life that changes the way I am. Though it was not an easy life but it made me become responsible and enable me to draw closer to God. Some decisions that are considered as failures also teaches me a lesson like when we decide to transfer to another place to earn our living, we have encountered problems going in there that helps us to be closer as a couple.
CONCLUSION
As for me, whenever decisions may fail or succeed it all works for our good, it carries a message to make us a better person and mature in our relationship. Decisions that are by the discernment of God's plan are much better and in this way, we can share our experiences and lessons with other people who have struggled with the same problem in life.
Life is full of choices and options each day, and our choice gives an impact on our life in the future.
But whatever we choose today, just take courage to what we have and continue to trust in God for He knows better than us.
