Weight has always been a problem of mine. Growing up I belonged to the heavier side of the habitus spectrum. Having excess weight meant being the butt of jokes which did not do well for my self-confidence. Physically, it also meant being out of breath from climbing up stairs or having difficulty doing menial tasks such as bending over to pick up trash. The journey of losing weight has been up and down. The yo - yo trend, from a scientific perspective, takes a toll on your body.
Fad diets, 7 minute abs or body of a God in 30 minutes is just a marketing strategy for companies to ramp up what brand they are promoting. Losing weight comes with a bit of sacrifice and a lot of consistency. By consistency, I mean day in and day out you don't lose focus of what you want. Cutting a bit of slack is fine once in a while as long as you don't lose focus of your main goal of a healthy body and mind.
Four months in, I have been doing a mix of resistance training alternating with high intensity interval training coupled with a diet of mostly greens and a little animal protein. I drink once in a while but I make sure to compensate the added calories with the amount of physical work I have to do to make up for my it. Weight loss has been gradually going down. It's a long, arduous journey but while I'm at it I might as well have fun. Mix it up and enjoy the process. Don't forget to have fun. You don't make friends with salad alone.
I really admire people with this kind of dedication. Oh, food, please stop temptingggg!
