You are in a stage of your life wherein you are very much settled in life and planning to built a house for yourself. The moment that you get goosebumps just by thinking about the name board hanging outside your house with your name written on it. The feeling of not dealing with a house owner who can be sometimes a pain in the ass every morning (sometimes more than your office boss). It’s a very big decision of your life of owning a house and you putting in all your hard earned money to make it your dream place to live for the rest of your generations to come.
Now just think about the efforts put in by multiple set of people for months together in building the palace of your dreams. Starting from the engineer, builder, daily wage workers, painters, electricians, carpenters, etc., are working towards your goal of having a perfect sweet home. You burn your money and they burn their sweat. Once everything is done you have your sweet home ready, the phrase that is heard a lot is “I built this house and it’s the best decision of my life”. Have you ever thought of giving credit to those people who made it happen ? Those hands which works very hard in building your dream house ? The answer is NO. It’s very illogical to credit someone for which you are sole owner of it.
Sorry for such a bad and illogical example to start off with. Let’s take your work place where you put in your time and hard work in accomplishing the tasks given by your manager. You are a pro in completing your tasks to the atmost perfection. You are the best employee that your company is proud of. But sometimes when it comes to giving you the credit, they may recede. Should that make you feel bad or go negative against the company or your manager ? Should your company recognise you for your overtime work and you expect them to quote the phrase “Company is all because of you” ? If the answer is YES, than why was it illogical with the first part of my article ? Here it was your manager or his higher ups idea and you are just a helping hand in completing those tasks.
In both the scenarios, the person who is working hard to accomplish someone’s goal is been paid. Ultimately the people involved in connecting the dots are just the helping hands. Many people may criticize me for this but I believe we can’t take the credit for something that was not our initiative. If the tasks are assigned by your higher ups, than it’s just that you are following your duties. Expecting a credit is illogical.
So to be odd one out in your life, plan about something that would help you make “YOU” as the sole owner to take the credit. Every person can bring in an initiative where you would put in your time in accomplishing it. That’s when you deserve A Credit in your name.
