Styracosaurus (pronunciation: / stɪˌrækəˈsɔrəs / or [is-tay-ra-ko-saw-rus /], meaning "piercing or horned lizard" from the Greek styrax / στυραξ = 'pointed at a long bow 'and saurus / σαυρος =' lizard ') is a variant of herbivorous dinosaur ceratopsia from the Cretaceous Period (or Cretaceous) in the Campanian period, about 76.5 to 75.0 million years ago.

It has about four to six long horns arising from the hips or ribs of the neck, a smaller horn on each cheek, and one horn coming from its nose, which can reach fissures of up to 60 centimeters. (2 feet) long and 15 centimeters (6 inches) wide. It has been the subject of many years of controversy over the function or function of horns and curtains.

Styracosaurus is a large dinosaur, reaching 5.5 meters (18 feet) long and weighing close to 3 tons. It stands about 1.8 meters (6 feet) high. It claims four short thighs and a muscular body. Its tail is short. It also has a beak and chipped teeth on the cheek, which is a sign of plant-eating.

Like other seratopians (ceratopsians), it may be part of a herd of animals that travels between large groups, as the bone structures suggest.

It was named after Lawrence Lambe in 1913, and is a member of Centrosaurinae. Two species, S. albertensis and S. ovatus are genetically assigned to Styracosaurus. Other classes have already been assigned to other classes included in this type.
