It's been 13 days that I was out of touch from my Noisecash family. I want to greet each one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope that you enjoyed the holiday season. Our city and province was hit by Typhoon Rai or what we call Typhoon Odette here in the Philippines. Our home, neighborhood and city suffered a lot of damages caused by the horrendous typhoon. Since 7:00pm of December 16th when the strong winds started blowing, our electric power was cut off. It took the power company 11 days to restore our electricity. We suffered no power, water( both drinking and for bathing/washing), and no wifi. We were so devastated. It was my first time to experience this kind of damage brought by typhoon. Roofs blown away, roof gutters twisted,trees uprooted, electric poles falling. It was a very sad sight to see but we were grateful that everyone in our family was safe. Up to now we are still doing clearing and cleaning operations. We experienced long lines just to get money from ATMs , buy food from groceries , buy fuel for cars or look for potable water. I requested our neighbor if we can get some water from their source for cooking and bathing and I am glad that they shared to us. Some neighbors helped us cut the fallen trees and fixed the roof destroyed by the winds. Of course we need financial resources to finish all these. I am very much grateful to the loving people and friends who shared their time, effort,financial and emotional support and connections to make our lives easier. We could not have made it without them. It was a time where each one of us was being tested. It taught us to be more resilient and learned to live with the basic necessities.
