My contribution on gardening. "It is like a farmer who sow seeds in his field. The same kind of plants will grow as the seeds which he sows. That will be his harvest." Galatians 6:7(EasyVersion) I started planting 2 ube tubers in my front yard when we were on lockdown last year. A few months after planting, the vine was growing healthy with lots of leaves. My children alerted me that the vine was climbing on the walls and also invading the telephone lines. I told them not to worry because when the rootcrop is ready , the leaves will just die and fall to the ground. True enough, in less than a year, last February 2021, I noticed that the ube leaves started to turn yellow so , I started digging one plant. As I digged deeper, I saw large tubers! That was my first harvest, about 10 kilos! Fruit of my labor! Yeheey! See the attached picture. I had fun making ube halaya and shared some to friends and family who were able to visit since I can't go out. On March 14, 2021, I harvested the last ube planted in my front yard. It took me a few days to dig it because the rootcrop produced was huge. I even needed the help of my children and son-in-law to dig. I got a total of about 13 kilos of ube this time from a single plant! What a blessing! The photos below shows it too! This made me really happy. I made more ube halaya and ube icecream. I had more to share this time. Some were cooked with vegetables and others were given away to share the blessings. I saved some cut tubers (near the top) for replanting which I did on the last week of March. This morning, when I checked , I saw some growth on one tuber! I thank the Lord for giving me another ube plant to be nurtured for next years harvest! "Kung may itatanim, ay aanihin," as our saying goes.
