The stories you can hear in the Venezuelan plains are the very culture of a people. Here on the finca you have heard an infinite number of stories, the one you hear the most is about a man who lets himself be seen on the bridge of the hanged man. Yes, his name refers to a man who lived an ordinary life without knowing that it would change overnight.
It all begins on October 9th, a man called "Luis Silva" known in the village as the womanizer and party man, Luis always as usual every day when he woke up the first thing he prepared was a good coffee, went out to the street and started talking to the neighbours who gathered on a corner. Luis beyond his mundane life led a normal life. He did not believe in religion or superstition. One day after going out drinking with some friends, he decided to go and visit a woman who lived outside the village, although Luis had nothing to do with her and she didn't pay any attention to his pretensions, he was still after her.
For Luis, what he liked most about this woman was that she didn't pay any attention to him and she hadn't fallen like the others, so that night, a little drunk, he knocked on the door of (blanca), a beautiful woman with a very dark past. When she saw that it was Luis, she shouted, "What do you want? Luis stared at her. Then he said I came to see the woman of my dreams.
After several hours, Luis still insisted and Blanca opened the door, Luis looked at the woman and stared at her as if he had been bewitched, what he did not know was the horrible events that were approaching, Blanca, a very reserved woman, told him: "You better leave, I don't want to have problems with you and much less with "the man", Luis without realizing what was coming, insisted again: "Woman, don't you understand that you are the woman of my dreams? You make me sick with love, I want to get to know you a little more" the woman still in denial repeats again that she should leave. Don't let it be 3 a.m. to leave, it could go very badly down that dark road, Blanca replied.
3 A.M
Luis: A pues mujer ha mi nada me miedo y mucho menos cuento de camino, yo soy hombre macho que no le teme a nada mucho menos a cuentos de camino, quien se atreva a salirme tendrá que tener los pantalones bien puesto. I am a well-bred man and I am not afraid of anything.
Blanca: You really don't know what you are dealing with, so I want you to take something that I am going to give you in case something happens maybe it will save your life. This amulet can protect you from any spirit that can harm you and it will also keep you protected always.
Luis: No, woman, you're too crazy to believe that I'm going to accept that amulet, for me that's bullshit, I don't believe that what you're saying exists, much less that he's going to come and hurt me, if he really does come out, he's going to be scared when he meets me. And because it's not that I'm all-powerful, it's just that I don't let myself be scared by superstitions.
Luis continued on his way and left the woman's house, thinking about what she had told him, that woman is really strange, she doesn't open the door and then opens it to scare me with a tale of roads. I have never believed in those things, much less now, Luis fearlessly went ahead, while he intoned the lyrics of a song "on this road I go, with the moon as clear as the sun itself, looking to get the very love, because who wouldn't like to be in love with a beautiful woman, good all around" while he continued singing his song over and over again, He manages to see in the distance of the bridge that divides the town and its surroundings, next to a tree was a man hanging, Luis scared manages to run to help the guy who at that moment was hanging, when he arrives he manages to lower the subject and when he sees his face he is still, the face that is reflected in the subject was that of himself. What kind of joke is this? Even without realizing it, Luis does not believe what is happening, the mysterious body lying on the ground manages to get up and says a few words: "So you are very macho?" and after a few seconds the body disappears before Luis' eyes.
Luis: he runs off into the forest of trees without looking back and begins to say a prayer (God protect me who protects the desperate, protect me from this evil, help me to get out of this nightmare) when Luis thought that everything had been resolved, the voice of that dreadful spirit returns "now you are going to know what I am going to do to you". Luis shouts loudly, "What do you want from me? I haven't done anything wrong, that frightening spirit doesn't respond, then after a while Luis looks at the time and is shocked to see that the time reads 3:00 A.M. This must be wrong if it was 3:00 A.M. an hour or so ago, what is happening here. Luis begins to remember the warnings the woman had given. The night begins to turn cold and wet, a storm is approaching and the lightning starts a heavy rain. Now yes sir, take me out of this situation, I don't want to continue leading a mundane life, I understood the lesson, Luis listens to a sound between the trees attentive to what is approaching, he manages to see a hand between some bushes, to his surprise it was the woman called (Blanca) says: "I told you that you should leave, now you will have to pay the consequences, live every day and the time will never pass, your only option is to hang yourself". Luis couldn't believe it so he started to run again, he was supposed to know the whole forest, although at dawn he couldn't recognise anything. So he chose to mark the path and after a long time walking he already felt tired between his legs and began to feel thirsty, he managed to get a spring that flows through the roots of the trees, as he approached to drink water desperately, he did not notice that he was not alone, when he saw himself in the reflection of the water he realized that his reflection was not the same, something was wrong, then he heard in his ear (you know what to do), Luis shouted "What do you want from me? To which he hears again a whisper say, Your Soul!
Luis began to agonise, the clock was ticking and time was running out for him, the irony was at its peak, when he was running out of strength, he was hungry, thirsty and sleepy, tiredness was beginning to win. He managed to remember that the woman (Blanca) had given him an amulet, all was not lost, so he searched in his pockets and managed to get the amulet, it had a kind of bell that rang a strange sound to the human ear. There suddenly appears a tall man, black hat does not let you see his face, this without words points it, Luis begins to feel his body burned. Then Luis says, what are you doing to me, the man answers, or rather, what have you done to yourself? Without knowing the "amulet" was nothing more than a kind of mark that he had made himself, the woman had deceived him and if it was bad before, now it was going to be worse. He knew that he had a destiny without a happy ending, he also knew that he had to get to that woman's house.
Hours passed... in Luis' chronological clock, he managed to reach the woman's cabin, when he opened the door his surprise was total, the house seemed abandoned many years ago, he began to look through the things and found a piece of writing.
"I can't stand that now you are not in this world, I don't know what to do, I can't find any direction, my destiny is with you, I don't understand why you took this path, hanging you was the worst of all possible scenarios, I want to be with you again, maybe take my life or serve you, I managed to calm these longings to be with you, I have read a little in magic books, I can give you that rest that you long for, look for souls that can fill that hole for you".
Luis: with a terrified look he felt the fear in his body, this woman had orchestrated a macabre plan and he had been the guinea pig, when he wanted to leave he realised that he was not alone, when he turned his body, a woman was there, but she was not white, she had used black magic and had ended up becoming a fearsome witch. Luis knew that he still had a minimal chance, he accepted to mediate with the woman who with a crazy look and a knife in her hand said, you must fulfil what was agreed, you have been marked, so you must die...
When all seems lost, an unknown woman enters, manages to grab the witch and screams and runs... Luis knows that this is his moment, he takes the amulet, opens the witch's mouth and puts the amulet in it. Then both man and woman run away. After a while the clock started to turn again, Luis had escaped from the curse, when he managed to look for the woman who helped him, there was nobody there.
Luis. He looked at the sky and thought of her, the one who had been his wife and died with their child in her womb while trying to give birth, he knew she had had a second chance. His wife from heaven itself had come down to help him out of that dreadful end.
The man learned an important lesson, to go about with a worldly and carefree life is not bad, the problem is when you lose the essence of being yourself and, dive into that dark world of darkness and lust.
