The Danube is a powerful river and on its way to the Black Sea it built the longest and largest gorge in Europe - the Djerdap gorge. The gorge is also known by its traditional name - the Iron Gate. Apart from being one of the greatest natural beauties in Europe, it also represents the natural and administrative border between Serbia and Romania. This gorge is very dear to me and I visit it very often. Just a couple of weeks ago, I spent two days hiking and touring some of the most beautiful viewpoints of this gorge. #photography #travel #landscape #Djerdap #gorge #IronGate #Danube #Serbia #Romania

Upon i can see it that river was so calm and peaceful, it is allowed to swim in that river?

It's not really good place to swim, border between two countries is here and border patrol does not like that very much :) And it would be dangerous, Danube here is not slow and calm. But, a few miles upstream there's a lot of very nice beaches on the Danube.
