I had to google the English name of this flower because I was absolutely sure that nowhere in the world is it called as it was called in Serbia. The Latin name is Galanthus nivalis. English name is Snowdrop. OK, hold on now - the Serbian name for this flower is 'Visibaba', which translated to English means: hanging grandmother :) There is no documented origin of the Serbian name, but it is a common assumption that it got its name because of its shape of a hunched grandmother with white hair. Snowdrop is considered the herald of spring and is one of the first flowers to appear with the first signs of melting snow. Although the species is endangered, they are doing quite well in my yard ;) #photography #spring #flowers #snowdrop #sun
