The U.S. administration, led by Donald Trump, recently blacklisted Chinese company Xiaomi. All because of the alleged connection between Xiaomi and the Chinese military. Xiamoi has taken a bold step, according to a statement from Reuters filed a lawsuit against the US government.
Xiaomi has made a big leap in the smartphone market, posing as a strong player in that world, but the company is facing the problem of being blacklisted by the US Government. Xiaomi therefore filed a lawsuit against the Pentagon and asked to be removed from that list. Xiaomi explained the move as illegal and unconstitutional, and the lawsuit was filed in Washington District Court. In the lawsuit itself, Xiaomi states that it has nothing to do with the Chinese People's Liberation Army and that there is no evidence for that. He states that only the association with the Chinese army could have damaged the reputation of that company. The Chinese company states that three of Xiaomi's ten largest investors are American citizens, who have shares in the company, and that the US Government is destroying the profits of its citizens.
Although Xiaomi is not currently in as bad a position in the US market as Huawei, Xiaomi can still import products into the US market. The company states that this fact limits their investments in the company and thus causes great damage to the Xiaomi brand.
Proof of this is the order for all U.S. investors to withdraw money by November 11, 2021, and the blacklisting was announced last month. When blacklisted, Xiaomi surpassed Apple and became the third Swedish smartphone maker.
