Summer is the time for exploring the world and having fun. But just like winter has the downside of fifteen layers of clothing to go outside, summer has its bad sides too: You’re sweaty basically all the time, but unless you want to burn to a crisp, you need to stay covered. There are plenty of beautiful options for shoes, but they are so uncomfortable the minute your feet swell up from the heat. So if you want to stay comfortable while looking stylish during the summertime, you’ll want to read up on these tips:

Chiffon layers

There’s nothing like a light, chiffon layer to keep you cool without showing too much. You can mostly see this with skirts and dresses, where you have a miniskirt out of opaque fabric, and then a chiffon layer that covers either midi or maxi length. This is a great way to protect your skin from the direct sun without too much fabric weighing you down, so it’s perfect for a light, summer look. You can pair a midi chiffon skirt with either a white blouse or a black crop-top to get two completely different looks. You can also go with chiffon for swimsuit cover-ups, as it’s a material that won’t such up water and become heavy on you.

Go for midi

You might think that a miniskirt will keep you coolest, but in reality, wearing a midi is much more comfortable – not to mention that it’s back in fashion. Firstly, miniskirts often require by nature that they are tight against your skin, otherwise, you risk it blowing up and showing a bit more than you’d like. With a midi length, you don’t have to worry about the material being tight, because even a full-circle skirt will keep you covered in a summer breeze. But being physically comfortable isn’t the only issue: a midi skirt keeps you mentally comfortable, as you don’t have to worry about walking up stairs, sitting in a chair with no sides and other situations that a miniskirt might pose an issue with. On the contrary, it is much more breathable than maxi skirts, and you will have less material to manage on how sticky days.

Walk comfortably

The thing you want most with your footwear is to be comfortable in it. For the hot summer days, you should always look for shoes like Birkenstock Gizeh, which give you support and style. The first step is a good sole. You want something that is thick enough to viably protect your feet from both the hear of the summer asphalt, as well as the big pebbles on the beach. It should also be ergonomically supportive to your feet so that your back isn’t suffering. Next, you want them to have adjustable straps because no two feet are the same, and your feet can swell several times during the day, and you want your shoes to be comfortable no matter what state you’re in.

Anti-chafing

The biggest problem most women face during the hot, summer days is: chafing. If the thighs touch and there is sweat, there will be chafing, and it will be painful. But you don’t have to swap out all of your skirts for shorts just yet, because there are many ways you can deal with chafing: Firstly, you can try cosmetic solutions: talcum powder, deodorant or specialized anti-chafing creams can all help relieve the sensation, and depending on how much your thighs rub, this might be enough. But if you need something more, you can always get anti-chafing bands, which are pretty little bands that you slide around your thighs and then protect them from each other. Or if you want to go old school and follow in the footsteps of so many women: bicycle shorts or spanx can be a life-saver and a very easy trick to get rid of any unpleasant feelings.

You should also make sure that all of your bras have moisture-reducing qualities so that sweating is reduced to a minimum, and if you have problems with all of the straps showing and overlapping, find the bra that has adjustable straps that can go many different ways. Make sure you’re always applying sunscreen to make sure you don’t burn and get the worst possible tan lines from your outfits, and you should be good to go.
