"It's a girl! "
The doctor gushed, placing the wailing infant on the woman's chest.
She heaved trying to catch her breath in the aftermath of her gruelling labour. Tears of pain mingled briefly with tears of joy before dissolving into tears of sadness.
She had once again given birth to a girl! Her third daughter. What would her husband and in-laws do to her now?...
Ashi was a bubbly happy child growing up with all that she could want for despite being the middle child of 5 siblings. She grew up with intense feeling of responsibility for her younger siblings. Feeling the need to fill in her mother's shoes whilst her mom was a scared insecure woman suffering from Postpartum depression. Back in the day such diagnosis wasn't given out but today being a dentist in her own stead. She realizes why she had the need to step up.
With a twist of fate having been married off to a household with 5 elder sisters to her husband, she felt like she had 6 Mother's in law. Each with their own set of expectations and mean girls team. Her solace became the nieces in that family who showered love unconditionally as she did them.
She became pregnant soon a sense of excitement took over in her bleak never ending daily saga. Alas, the happiness didn't last long as she delivered a baby girl. None in her family showed up to see her nor the child. She felt her foot hold in the house become weaker not because she was unhappy she had a girl but because the family treated her as such for having a daughter.
On her third pregnancy,
"It's a girl! "

What will they do to her child. Will her husband who has never validated her emotions consider her position now that they have another daughter. Will he have the guts to stand by her after all they are his children as well. Why would he tolerate such disdain for his own children.
Is it his Upbringing or the privilege he was given growing up with 5 Sisters lead him to think having a boy meant more than the daughters he has.
How will she ever make him realize if not his family the importance of the having a daughter. He barely listens let alone communicates well with her.
"Is she doomed for life"?
When no one shows up to the hospital, she had to check herself out. She realized she didnt want her daughters to grow up in the same environment that her husband did. In a family her daughters will grow up feeling inferior without emotional support. She made the best decision that she could for her children's fate.
As she left the hospital with her newborn with the help of her Two daughters, she walks a path she never dreamed of taking. Forging her own path for a better tomorrow for her children she walks the path toward her freedom As a bud blossoms into a flower.
Child are gifts of gods, not only this child's are the result of love between two partners. So it's a kind of fruit. I too have a daughter and am happy to have her . To speak honestly, I feel sad when I see the face of society. To have son or daughter is no the question or the problem? But the mindset of society is really a problem .
