1. Game of Thrones (2011-19)

The storylines of Game of Thrones are based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series, which is set in the fictitious Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the continent of Essos. Several plot lines run concurrently throughout the series. The first story arc chronicles a succession battle between rival claimants for the sovereignty of the Seven Kingdoms' Iron Monarchy, with other noble families battling for independence from the throne. Chernobyl dramatizes the narrative of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union, in April 1986, by presenting the stories of those who were involved in the tragedy and those who responded to it.
