I shuffled my tarot deck and the 2 of Swords popped out! Another tarot post and more thoughts/meaning toward a new suit in the Minor Arcana. I hope you enjoy!

The 2 Of Swords Tarot card is one of coming to a crossroads, having obscured vision, or fighting an internal struggle. The swords suit in tarot is associated with the element air, and is recognized as 'spades' in traditional playing card decks. Swords are just one of the 4 suits featured in the Minor Arcana, and this suit represents logic, rational thinking, and intellect. This suit in a reading is analytical, precise, sharp, and quick witted.

Rider Waite Tarot Deck

The 2 of Swords depict a woman sitting on a bench, blind folded, and holding 2 swords that crisscross one another. Behind the woman are rocks sticking up out of the sea. You can see waves on the water, and above the woman is a crescent moon high in the sky. The 2 swords in the picture are perfectly straight and symmetrical, which can represent coming to a crossroads or making an important choice. I see it as making a choice logically and rationally, or intuitionally and with the heart. The moon tarot card also represents our choice between tame and well behaved or primal and instinctual.

The blindfold over the woman's eyes can have many different meanings. Is she purposefully covering her eyes, avoiding a problem or choice that needs a decision? By being blind folded she is unable to gather the necessary information to make a definite choice. What if the blindfold is to eliminate distractions and focus on both the problem AND the solution? The rocks in the background would make travel for a ship difficult, and they represent obstacles or challenges on our journey.

2 Of Swords Upright

Palladini Tarot Deck

I see so many different things when I look at the 2 of swords upright! The 2 swords are obvious and prominent, and they tie in so closely to the blindfolded woman. You're at a crossroads, a literal fork in the road. You have a choice to make....left, or right? Yes, or no? This choice can be a major life decision, or something simple, but you agree with both options and you can't decide.

Do you wear a blindfold only so you don't have to acknowledge this choice or responsibility? You know it's there, because you can use your sense of touch to feel the swords. Not acknowledging the choices, or avoiding them entirely could be why you've covered your eyes. On the flip side.... Have you put a blindfold on because you've made a decision and you're following it blindly? No one or nothing can stop you on the path you've chosen, and you've got blinders on and refuse to acknowledge new information or other opinions.

There's a path to pick, and whether both choices are REALLY good, or REALLY bad, a decision still needs to be made. When confronted with a decision that you feel drawn to both sides, make sure you gather the necessary information. Once you've made a list of both the pros and cons for each choice, can you then make a well informed decision.

2 Of Swords Reversed

Chinese Tarot Deck

When the 2 of swords is reversed it basically means you're in a rock and a hard place. While in the upright position you were ambivalent toward your fork in the road. When in the reversed position, you become wishy washy, playing both sides of the fence. You take a step down one path, and immediately take two steps back. You think, rethink, and overthink your decision to the point of stress and anxiety. This does not help with the current indecision you may be experiencing.

The two of swords can represent our mind (logical, intelligent, rational, analytical), or our heart (emotions, intuition, feelings, sensitive). We are in a constant battle between which side to choose for which decision. When faced with that indecision, we become timid and cautious, it paralyzes you and creates more indecision. Take that first step toward whichever path you choose, and don't look back. Neither option may be ideal, but you'll feel better having made a choice.

2 Of Swords Love

Fenestra Tarot Deck

Obviously the 2 of Swords will have different meanings in a love reading for someone single, or in a relationship. The general meaning still applies though. If you're single you may have two different people interested in you, and they both have strengths and weaknesses. You might think that each one can make you happy, which makes choosing so difficult. Indecision is your enemy, and leading someone on will only cause hurt for you and the other person.

The other side of this could be that you're weighing the pros and cons of staying single or pursuing a relationship. With the blindfold on you are looking at both paths subjectively, biased, and unable to make a choice. Consider removing your blinders and look at both situations objectively. This will give you a more clear and definite answer, which removes indecision and doubt.

If you're in a relationship then the 2 of swords can represent a decision: "stay or go"? If you've been ignoring things in your relationship (putting a blindfold on) that really bother you.....it may be time to address those issues. It may difficult or uncomfortable, but ignoring it won't make it better. Look at your situation objectively, and make a decision on which path is best for you right now.

2 Of Swords Finance/Career

Morgan Greer Tarot Deck

The 2 Of Swords money wise means you're debating a difficult decision. It could be that you're trying to decide between staying 'safe' with your current job, or going out on your own. Every situation is different, but your intuition is telling you which path to take. You may be in a conflict at work with someone, and neither of you are losing ground. It's the definition of a stalemate, and you or your adversary aren't making progress. Take your blind fold off, and look at the situation in another way. Another perspective can give you insight toward the problem, and provide a solution.

If you're burying your head in the ground (putting on a blind fold) and trying to escape your financial difficulty..... It's time to pick a path. Continue what you're doing, and keep getting the same results or......? Make a change and do something different, growing closer to what you really want? The outcome may be painful at first, but you know what needs to be done. The longer you wait, the worse it will get. Being proactive will serve you better than you know!

Let me know what you think! Are you experiencing a stalemate or crossroads in your life? Tell me about an important choice you had to make, but had trouble deciding. Are you dealing with a crossroads now and want to discuss? Let me know, I'm here to help!

Oh it's OK! I don't believe in them either, I just try to make sense of pictures that resonant with what I'm thinking/feeling internally. I appreciate the comment, and feedback more than you know!
