1. The difference between good and evil

The story of Robin Hood, the world’s most famous outlaw from Sherwood Forest, is 600 years old, has hundreds of versions, today’s, as we know it, is a mix of a few medieval ones, but still equally thrilling. Once read, children will remember and love it for a lifetime because it is a story of the eternal struggle of good and evil, in which good wins.

2. Self-confidence

There are many unpleasant situations in which children find themselves, they feel oppressed, and they keep silent, and during them they are silent. Robin is combative not only in the warrior sense of the word. He fights for justice to be equal for all. He fights against thieves, deceivers, rich people who would like to oppress, strong people who would like to overpower… Robin will give the weak the necessary strength.

3. Physical strength is not everything

Robin does not defeat his opponents only with a bow and arrow or fists. He is verbally superior. In episodes with various characters who fall into his trap, his trait is most pronounced. He is more lethal with words, which is a much greater skill and much harder to master.

4. Sportsmanship

In all versions Robin is presented as a tall and strong guy, a nimble, unsurpassed shooter. In many situations he uses his skill and impresses his opponent. He loves competitions and there are no obstacles for him that will deter him from participating in them.

5. Not everything is as it seems

If we simply looked at the character of Robin Hood, it would be like this: he is an outlaw who steals and is chased by the sheriff. However, in his world the value system is poorly set up. He is an outlaw because he runs away from injustice, he is not a real thief, he returns the kidnapped, and the sheriff is a representative of a bad law that is not the same for everyone. The roles are a bit reversed…

6. Help others in need

When the sheriff's men captured Robin's friend Little John, Robin immediately rushed to save him. He embarked on a fight with a numerically superior enemy, not wanting to lose his best and bravest friend, without a shred of thought.

7. Imagination

It has been scientifically proven that reading the imagination is best activated. And the story of Robin is such an adventure that it will be equally exciting for both boys and girls to follow the fun events that follow. Girls love such brave heroes, and boys immediately imagine that they are like them.

8. Meet your superheroes

While playing, children enter their favorite cartoon characters and are happy to imitate them. They talk like them, dress like them, solve problems like them… You know, you did the same thing yourself. Tell the children about it, share your imagination with them, play together. Introduce them to your superhero in the green department from Sherwood Forest who had no superpowers but fought injustice equally successfully.

9. Rich vocabulary

Grammar and spelling rules are adopted by reading. Reading books of different genres teaches words we don’t use in everyday speech. The book about Robin Hood is a great read in that regard. The writer John Finmore and Olga Pešić, who translated it brilliantly, took care of the real example of good language style and an even better source of new words in this case.

10. Education

A book about Robin Hood should be read by every child. To know that he is a character from English literature, a character after whom many works were created: ballads, plays, novels, series, cartoons, movies, comics… If it wasn't just Russell Crowe, nor Patrick Bergin, Kevin Costner… He is much more from that. A 600-year-old legend. It is part of general education.
