Associated Press, an independent global news organization, has teamed up with Everipedia, a bloc-based encyclopedia, to publish and distribute the results of the 2020 U.S. elections directly on a distributed registry.

The results will be published in Everipedia, which is based on the EOS bloc and will use another bloc called Chainlink.

"AP is the gold standard for counting votes and announcing winners in the election, and we are pleased to be working with Everipedia," said Dwayne Desolnirs, AP Data Licensing Director.

The AP is responsible for counting votes in all U.S. elections, including national, state and local elections since 1848. Now, the long-time organization is turning to data blockbusters and oracles to increase transparency and credibility of the process.

To do this, the AP will cryptographically sign data and publish its cryptographic key through the Chainlink-based Everipedia data oracle. The oracle links real data, such as election results, to a block list.

"This 'Oracle as a Service' platform will be offered to industry-leading organizations to publish data directly to the skeleton," Everipedia said. - "Organizations will be able to generate revenue by publishing authoritative data on a wide range of topics, including prices, election results, sports statistics/outcomes, weather and news.
