The privacy oriented Monero cryptographic software developers deployed another update of Oxygen Orion network.

According to a Monero blog article, the latest software update for nodes is the result of work of about 30 developers. The update of Oxygen Orion will bring new functions to improve the network efficiency.

For example, the update includes the CLSAG function, which reduces the size of network transactions by about 25% and the transaction confirmation time by about 10%. At the same time, the confidentiality of transactions is maintained. Monero developers noted

Oxygen Orion offers some more new functions. These include improvements in network security, particularly with regard to the Dandelion++ protocol, which is responsible for hiding a user's IP address. Every Monero update from a technical point of view can be considered a hardfork, which requires network members to update their software in a timely manner.

On the blog, developers write that users who store XMR in hardware wallets should also be timely updated to the latest firmware version. The update of Oxygen Orion was deployed a few months after the Monero developers launched the new version of the Monero 0.16.0.0 Nitrogen Nebula client.

The network updates take place against the background of an increasing attention of the regulators to anonymous crypto-currencies. Recall that recently in a new report on the assessment of organized crime threats on the Internet for 2020 Europol called anonymous cryptovalues and wallets with privacy functions "the main threats. In addition, in early October the U.S. Revenue Service chose the performers to create tools for tracking Monero.
