Here they created an archipelago of artificial islands in the form of date palm and built the tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa (828 meters). The next large-scale project will be a city of the future worth 40 billion dollars.
The city will get a fantastic name - District 2020.
Expo exhibition is held every 5 years. It is a starter of new rounds of human development. Such familiar things as ketchup, cell phone, tin can, computer, elevator, electric lighting, refrigerator, space satellite, nuclear power plant, television and even a hovercraft train the world saw at Expo.
The size of the exhibition center EXPO Dubai approximately equal to the area of 400 soccer fields. The Expo is being prepared in the area of Jebel Ali in Dubai, which is fully built for this event. The huge construction site employs 40 thousand people daily. The scale of the action is huge!
After the Expo 70% of the exhibition complex will remain as a valuable heritage and a new district of the city - District 2020.
The city project involves not only the construction of a whole complex of buildings and the laying of roads, but also the metro, electric transport system, 5G technology communication and power supply with solar panels. Initial investments - 40 billion dollars, which is approximately equal to the annual income of one of the most expensive cities in the world - Moscow.
District 2020 will be built on an empty territory between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Nearby is the largest port in the world (it seems that the UAE seeks to break all records on the largest and most expensive projects) Jebel Ali. The territory between the metropolises was not chosen by chance: visitors and residents will have the opportunity to quickly move between the two settlements. It is only about 30 kilometers to Dubai, a little more than a hundred to the capital.
The work is carried out day and night, and in the light hours of the day builders have to work in the 40-degree heat. By the way, in Dubai, where also does not stop the construction of new heights, in the hottest time of day work stops.
District 2020 will be a temporary residence for 18 million visitors to the Expo from more than 200 countries. In the future, it will become an ordinary city where ordinary citizens of the UAE will live.
Visitors will arrive at Al-Maktoum International Airport. In just a quarter of an hour they will be able to find themselves in their hotel rooms and rental apartments. The airport was built five years ago. Now its capacity is estimated at seven million passengers a year.
Summer and autumn are the hottest seasons in the United Arab Emirates. The desert is like no other. In Dubai, residents try not to go out during the day without needing to. In the Distribution 2020 everything will be different. The developers of the project thought in advance about the scorching sun and made the minimum distance between houses. As a result, the temperature in the streets will drop and it will be possible to walk along them.
But this does not mean that the buildings will be pressed against each other. From the window it will not be possible to extend a hand to a neighbor opposite, as in chamber Europe. On the streets of District 2020 will be able to freely drive cars. In the north of the city will be a huge parking lot for 30 thousand cars. There you can leave your car, but you will have to drive to hotels and restaurants already by public transport.
Transport in the city will also be unusual. From point "A" to point "B" people will have to be delivered ... golf cars. They are silent, compact, environmentally friendly. Their use as the main mode of transport has already been tested at the Dubai Airport.
Buildings with LED backlighting, effectively illuminating the splendor of the city in the dark - it's beautiful. But this technological equipment of Distribute 2020 will not be limited to it.
To ensure maximum comfort, Distribute 2020 is already installing infrastructure to provide secure and stable Internet connection at high speed using 5G technology.
After EXPO the city will heal a completely new life. Random people will disappear from the streets - only permanent residents will remain. A specially hired team of specialists will work on the development of the city after the exhibition closure.
People who have settled in District 2020 will find jobs in the city. Some buildings will be converted into offices, stores will be re-profiled, and restaurants will introduce a new menu. Some world-famous companies have already applied for the opening in the city of the future of their offices, including, for example, Siemens.
Those, wishing to settle in the city, will be able to buy an apartment or rent it. Even the approximate cost of square meters is not yet known. The city will open a science museum, schools, hospitals and children's entertainment center.
