14 Amazing pictures Of The New Seven Wonders Of The Earth

Seven seems like an awfully small number Especially when it comes to naming the world’s greatest wonders Especially considering only one of the seven original, ancient wonders. 1. **THE REDEEMER OF CHRIST STATUE BRAZIL** Generally the statue is viewed as a symbol of love Snd unity, it’s covered in thousands of small stone pieces tiles.

This Christ statue is found in an iconic city of Rio de Janeiro. It was completed in 1931 by a one time priest.

2. **Petra Jordan** Petros, means 'rock' is found in southern Jordan.

The city has been in existence for long but at a time was forgotten forgotten until a Swiss explorer rediscovered it in 1812.

3. **THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA**  Wall of Benin was once said to be the greater wall of all time, it spanned across approximately 14,000 miles that's almost two thousand times longer and bigger than the Wall of China but was sadly broken down by the British in the colonial rule. The great wall of China was built during the Ming Dynasty when the Ming were at war with Mongolians, and its still strong, well structured and standing.

4. **COLOSSEUM, ROME** The massive structure is located in Italy and has over 80 entrances and seating for at least 50,000 people. Viewers would come to watch gladiators/warriors and slave battle.

This beautiful structure was commissioned in Rome around 70 AD, some parts of the Colosseum have crumbled due to earthquakes, looters, vandals, or fire and has not been restructured by the government nevertheless it’s still a gorgeous sight, even despite the throngs of tourists.

5. **The hanging garden of Babylon** Babylon, located about 80 km south of modern Baghdad in Iraq, which was an ancient **city**  with a history of settlement dating back to the 3rd millennium BCE.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are sometimes referred to as the Hanging Gardens of **Semiramis** after the semi-divine female Assyrian ruler thought by the Greeks to have extensively rebuilt

6. **Machu Picchu, Peru** Machu Picchu is one of the most recent wonders of the earth, it is 7,000 feet above sea level, the ancient citadel dates back to the height of the Incan Empire in the 15th century.

It is estimated that only about 800 persons lived there as it was a royal estate more of a palace rather than a proper city. Quechua, the name means “Old Peak,” but the well constructed site wears its age gracefully well and is maintained well.

7. **Chichén Itzá, Mexico** Chichén Itzá, Mexico is said to be Found in the Yucatán state, Chichén Itzá is a powerhouse in the area. Its trending days was from around 1200 AD

This place was famous for its under water rivers and open freshwater called cenotes.
